I have never written a review before but thought I need to now. We moved to London for a few years and upon returning jumped at the chance to go back to Il Bolognese.

We call this cute restaurant our 'Little Italy'. It's so original, and the staff are so sweet, we didn't want to leave after we got into a lengthy chat with the staff who are so lovely.

Food was amazing, I recommend not eating before you go as the portions are huge.
See you all again soon hopefully we're glad to be back!

We went to a family function there, it was like being stuck in a time warp. It was great back 25 plus years ago, but come on. They have not moved with the times, mismatched plates, main meals served on entree plates, food not great. The oldies in our family think it is great for family functions, but I would not use it for a younger persons function.

Worst Italian I have ever had! Got tomato based pastas and there was not even a glimpse of tomato taste! It was as if I was eating pasta in salt water sauce. I would not recommend this place at all! The only positive thing I could say is that the service was pretty good, polite staff and food came out fast.

Beautiful food but comes with a very very hefty price tag. Near on $100 for the two of us and there was no alcohol purchased.

If you like Australian-Italian food circa 1970 you will love this place. It is a red sauce/carbonara/crumbed calamari type of place. All depends on what you want. I hated it, so I thought it was terrible value.

We had our sons 21st in the function room, and we were definitely impressed. The food was second to none and heaps of it. Everyone commented on how delicious it was. The service was excellent, very attentive. All our needs were accommodated for, eg music, slide show etc. A+ experience. Highly recommend and would definitely be back. Thank you to Celso and his team.

Have been here a few times, food is to general standard nothing flash, I thought maybe something had changed since last time going but nothing has still the same. Service is good which was pleasing.
Overall ok for a quick feed out with the kids.

We were looking for a nice Italian restaurant and it wasn’t. It is the worse restaurant we have been to. We ordered Garlic prawns and Pasta, Mussel for a main and Veal mushrooms. The garlic prawns were ok but the pasta tasted out of a packet and it was not cooked long enough. The Veal was tough and the sauce was full of salt, found out by a chef friend that they must have left over from the night before and added more water to it and then tried to reduce it again. The mussels were only half cooked.... bad, bad, bad. They only charge us for the entree which was good. They get all the Chef from Ryde Tafe were the owner works as a teacher chef

I was really disappointed. Since moving to the area we've found it extremely difficult to find a decent Italian restaurant in the area. While the owner was friendly the food is nothing to rave it. We ordered take-away and while my friends meals were 'okay' mine was terrible. The ravioli looked like something you would get from a tin and the sauce wasn't rich in flavour at all. To make things worse, after a few bites I had a bit on something hard to find it was a piece of plastic. I definitely will not be returning.

I haven't been to Il Bolognese for sometime now, but we went with some friends on Saturday night (6 November). The food hasn't changed at all, still the same wonderful homemade taste and serving sizes are great. The specials were amazing.

The service on the other hand was lacking. I think that there were three or four wait staff on the floor, I was only introduced to Alison, who was run off her feet, between all tables. The restaurant was quite full, I really felt for her.

When I was walking around with my daughter, the other staff were standing around chatting. I guess this is why our shared pasta came out before our plates, and we had to go to them to get water refills. It was frustrating, but as a cafe owner myself, I know good staff can be hard to find.
