This is a great Japanese restaurant that is family owned and really welcoming. The food is great, from the Raman to the sushi to the kariage and my japanese wife and our 2 kids have been here many times and will continue to do so.

Have lunched here many times and bring different friends each time all in agreeance great value and extensive menu and will keep coming back. We are Aussies not asian and find the staff very accommodating only confused on service once when super busy and not enough staff, always happy and smiling and generally busy most weekends... absolutely delicious food... must be doing something right! Bento boxes great and there is so much to choose from.

I have been many times and found it to be getting better with every visit. The food is real value for money, fresh, good quality and highly acceptable. Management is always looking to accommodate the customer and have added small selection of sake, beers and the bottle shop is only 2 doors up. Fully packed and even lunches on weekends quite often require a wait... testimony that they are doing something right in this highly competitive market.

My friend and I with 2 kids (all Japanese) went there on weekday's lunch time. We both ordered lunch meal deal which cost us $13.80 each, that was fabulous value we found. Half ramen and full size donburi were served. Ramen taste was quite authentic and very tasty. We were completely satisfied when we stepped out the shop.

Will definitely come back for that kind of casual catch up lunch. This place is perfect for this kind of opportunity. Oops, almost forgot to mention, their service for kids were quite good too.

It has the tastiest eel and marinated meats ie: teriyaki etc meals since Ramen Kan closed in the area. The staff are nice enough but pretty hopeless at rearranging the restaurant seating in order to maximise how many people can fit in. They prefer to tell you that the place is full instead of thinking laterally. The soft shell crab salad is delicious and very good value and love that the bento boxes are available at dinner time too.

If they like to change the taste of their ramen to a customers liking, good on them. As you might know, ramen in Japan varies a lot region to region. Ramen in other countries often taste very different to what you get in Japan.

My wife & I ate here for lunch recently & couldn't be happier with the place, especially for the price! We ate a bowl of ramen each & shared a plate of sashimi. The ramen was great, not to salty, & the pork in mine was deicious. In fact, my wife & I agree it's the best ramen, maybe besides Menya, that we've eaten in Sydney!

The sashimi was, for the cheap price, very good. The pieces might seem small, but they were very fresh & there was a decent enough serving of each piece. And the service with a smile was very welcoming. It was great to be served & eat food cooked by Japanese in a Japanese restaurant (not that I have anything whatsoever against Chinese or Koreans, just if I want to eat Japanese food, I'd rather it be cooked by Japanese!).

Yes both my wife & I have eaten a lot of Japanese food, here in Australia & in Japan. My wife is Japanese & I've spent enough time in Japan for both of us to know what is decent Japanese food & Ichimaru certainly fits the bill.

We ate here for the first time last night. We ordered Spider roll sushi, and two platters of various sashimi, green tea and miso soup. The sushi was topped with mayo (why?) and crumbled very easily. It shouldn't. The sashimi was poor quality, and did not have much of a taste. The tuna was badly cut as well. It was too soft and had a funny texture. It was not toro, and not even maguro. The miso soup was too salty. I suspect it was either instant or powdered, with something added to it.

We overheard in Japanese the kitchen staff telling a customer that they vary the way they make ramen depending on the customer's origin. Culinary apartheid. The sashimi platters were covered in lettuce leaves and lemon slices. Why, for god's sake?! I would never go back to Ichimaru. Why serve up such disappointing food and pretend it is Japanese? It gives an erroneous impression of Japanese food to first-timers. In fact, this is the worst Japanese food I have ever had in Sydney.

Friendly casual restaurant. Noodles are excellent and the bento boxes are great value for money. A great place for a decent feed at very affordable prices. A better option compared to Sushi-ya.

Very nice food and good service. Servings a little bit smaller than other japanese restaurants but the taste and quality make up for it. Reasonably priced as well. Will definitely be a frequent diner there.

Tasty ramen for around $10 a bowl. We are regulars here and will remain so.
