Recently had an extremely ugly experience at the Mercantile, with my family being bullied off our table by a gang of drunken poms out looking for trouble. The staff refused to intervene or stop serving them. This isn't acceptable at any time, but it's especially vile behaviour during a Sunday lunch.

If you're going to come, bring a large-ish group of mates and be ready to fight.
Before this, we'd been visiting the Merc since the 1980s, it's pity to see it fall so far.

Paid $7.80 for a schooner of old and a schooner of coke, then got charged $7.60 for a midi of old and a schooner of coke. Two weeks ago, food was great same chef this week avocado was bulked up with shallots, a cheap meal at an expensive price. Needless to say not one for return trade for someone arranging a night out with friends. Entertainment was excellent and personable.

This is a nice Irish Pub. The only reason I've eaten in here is for the Full Irish Breakfast which, while it's a little pricy for breakfast, is without a doubt the best full Irish I've had in Australia. I can't really recommend anything on the menu as the breakfast but if you're a homesick paddy after black and white pudding and Potatoes Farls and proper sausages, this is the place.

This is a great pub, fun with a good atmosphere. Good bands. The staff were a bit slow, but they were dancing and singing and were really into having a good time. This is a good place to start or finish the night.

Went in here for a beer late on Friday night and thought it was great. There was a band playing and they seemed to be having fun and so did everyone else. A really good, fun atmosphere. Barstaff were friendly and boncers non threatening. Beer wasnt cheap but I suppose thats usual for the Rocks. Never saw a hint of trouble in the place just mostly an older crowd having fun.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and value for money. We visit this Irish pub whenever we're in Australia - so next month we're back. Can't wait!

The food is really bland and one of the most expensive pub food in the Rocks. When you ask for some ketchup, they hand you over one of them small cost cutting satchets between 3 people. Now that's a little tight!! The pub is really for a night on the drink and not a dining venue. Great for a night out but avoid the food as there are far better meals to be had around the Rocks.
