The Hungry Czech is a cozy little restaurant on Campbell Pde. We went with a group of friends last Saturday night. The waitress is friendly and helpful. We had the langosh to start with which one of my friends described as the best she has had. It was very nice, a deep fried concoction with a hint of garlic, not healthy but who cares.

For mains we had the duck and the goulash. The goulash was terrible, the meat was dry and the sauce peppery and a bit thin, my friend left half of hers. The duck was delicious though. A large half duck with 2 types of dumpling and red cabbage and sauerkraut. The duck was succulent, the skin crispy. Dessert was an apple and cherry strudel and strawberry dumplings. The strudel was pleasant, wished the cherry side was bigger since I am a cherry fan and served with custard and icecream.

The dumplings were greatly improved if dunked in the ricotta sauce provided. Though the goulash was disappointing, everyone was happy with my choice of restaurant and it was good value too, only $75 for 2 and we were stuffed.

This restaurant deserves more recognition. It delivers much more style, quality and taste than many better known restaurants in Sydney.

Our meals (Beef Goulash, Bohemian Platter for 2 and Chicken Schnitzel) were delicious and cooked to perfection. Desserts (freshly baked Apple and Cherry Strudel and Strawbery dumplings) were amazing.

Outstanding service and atmosphere warm and inviting. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends.
