Overview of Hummingbird

A slice of Melbourne has been found in an unlikely area. Hummingbird restaurant is nestled in the streets of Ultimo directly beneath the boutique Vulcan Hotel and it is reminiscent of the kind of groovy little dwelling you might find in Toorak. The focus and challenge here is on the freshest produce being prepared simply and served with care and integrity at affordable prices. With the fish markets at the end of the street and the chef/owner sourcing the seafood daily the menu is predominately seafood. This being said there is always a few meat dishes on for the carnivores. Besides its cozy interior, Hummingbird also boasts a simply fantastic designer courtyard area, perfect for those balmy evenings, breakfast in the sun or a pre-dinner tipple.

    I was there last week with my parents for dinner and it was lovely. My mom and I had the halloumi as an entree and the chicken breast and the roast duck as main. My dad had the rump and he said it was delicious.

    The waiter was very friendly and he recommended the duck. Good decision. I tried my dads dessert, he had the poached pear and this is my recommendation. We had a great dinner and I am happy to go there again.
