Went to the Hughenden last saturday. Food was awesome and the place was really cosy. Started with the drinks at their victorian style lounge and then had dinner at their restaurant. Food was nicely cooked. The service was great too, waiters were very friendly as well. Will definitely go back next time.

My experience here was fantastic. The food was really good, I loved the lamb shank pie, perfect winter food, and the chocolate dessert was great. But the main thing I noticed about the restaurant was the overall ambience and staff. The music was wonderful, on the night we went there was a piano player and I loved that jazzy, suave feel. Also the staff were amazing, they were so warm, friendly, and prepared to go to any lengths to help you, it really made the experience special. I will definitely recommend it.

I loved it! The salt and pepper squid was to die for! Then I had the lamb pie (which they told me was their specialty and they were right!), followed by the sticky date pudding. It was a beautiful meal and they had a pianist playing too which just added to the atmosphere. I will definitely be returning. I found out you can take your dog too!

Had a nice visit to the Hughendon the other night. I had not been here before, but it is a beautiful old-world style hotel. Such a nice setting. I'd highly recommend you have a few drinks in the gorgeous bar to kick things off. In terms of the food I was impressed. I had the kangaroo in beetroot sauce. The kangaroo was perfectly cooked, although I found the beetroot sauce a little overpowering. For dessert I shared the passionfruit soufflé. The servings are massive so sharing is a good idea. In all, I was impressed with the food. Unfortunately I found the service to be poor. Our waitress didn't seem too interested in us, and came across as quite distant, rude and unfriendly. Maybe she was having an off night - who knows. As it was, it was a good experience for us, but not a great experience. With better service, perhaps it might have been a great experience.

I went to the Hughenden Restaurant for dinner with my wife, and I can personally say the food and service were fantastic. I ordered the mushroom risotto for the entree, the rice was cooked to perfection and taste was just what I was after.
The food came very swiftly after ordering and the restaurant staff helped brighten our day. For the main meal I ordered the lamb shank pot pie. The pie was great and the pastry was very crisp. For dessert I had the chocolate pot and it was to die for. Very rich and tasty! Yum!
Rachel had the creme brulee and I can tell by her facial expressions that she thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife and I had a wonderful time, and will definitely be returning soon.

I went to the hughenden for dinner because I heard they had done things up since I'd been there last and it was a fantastic experience.
The food was lovely (loved the kangaroo!) and the service was prompt not to mention the waiters all made the extra effort to make the experience great.
I can particularly recommend sitting out on the deck for a summer evening - perfect! Overall I had a great time and will definitely be going back.

Really disappointing. Expected a lot more but I suppose I should've taken note of most recent review. Duck was dry and too salty. Lamb pot pie, pastry was burnt in section and overall was really lacking in flavour. Service was non existent. Waited a good 5 to 10 minutes before being taken to table, cutlery wasn't replaced after entree and general demeanour was flat.

As part of a group celebrating a birthday we went along for a Sunday afternoon tea. The waiter was great but food was far from good, lacklustre, frozen, dry, and no variety.

A group of us had lunch there on tuesday, the food was fantastic, especially the ground beef meatloaf. We got a outside table on the front deck on queen st, the ambience was wonderful, we'll definitely be going back, very satisfied.

Not bad, steak and lamb were good but the chowder was a bit watery. With the Entertainment book 2 for 1 it's not a bad deal for the quality of the food you get, though likely won't go back.
