Perhaps it's because I love the area this bar is situated in, but I like this place. Yes, it's cheap and that attracts committed alcohol imbibers, but it is also lively on Saturday night when blow-ins is heading to the nearby night-time mecca of Kings Cross. Spend your money here, rather than going to the seedy Cross. It seems to be worth a visit at the attractive prices on offer! I can't complain.
This pub would have potential -- but only if the publican could change his attitude towards customers. There was a slight communication problem on my first order, when I requested one beer and was presented with two. After telling the publican that I only wanted one beer, he told me that would my last beer and refused service to me and my friends---after quite a bit of abuse.
I recommend avoiding this pub if you are after a good night and customer service. Cheap beers, but cheaper service. Shame, cos it's in a good spot and has a lot of potential.
I agree that the pub grub is really good quality, and the prices are criminally low for what you get. The cocktail bar upstairs is a nice place to hang out, and never chock-a-block. Cocktails are quite expensive though, and service is a bit patchy upstairs. All in all, a great place to eat and have a beer at the start of a night out.
I thought the bar was wonderfuly set out. The food from ABC Noodles was fantastic and amazingly cheap. The service was of impeccable standard- considering the usual gruff un-interested response from barstaff found at any establishment located in or near Kings Cross, I was pleasantly surprised that the staff at Hotel William were happy, courteous and very appealing to the eye. I would definitely love to come back here again to visit next time I'm in town. Thanks to the staff of Hotel William- you're terrific!
This Pub has potential but like most hospitality in Sydney the service is arrogant and scant. Sydney really needs to take a look at Melbourne for decent service.
I must say, food wise, very good and authentic. However, bar staff was not to acceptable standard. Need to learn to be courteous and be more professional.
This kitchen might well be the undiscovered jewel in the crown of cheap eats in Sydney! The value-for-money equation couldn't favour the customer any more, surely! Especially on a Tuesday or Saturday, when many dishes are 2f'rs! that means, for example, 2 luscious, rich, well-presented, gigantic vegetable and tofu laksas, with your choice of noodles, served fast, and with a beaming smile, for $7.70! This is 'pub grub' everyone should support. (My scores, by the way, are tough.) This place truly is a find, and a gem!
