This cafe is has changed hands and is now 'La Buena Mesa Cafe & Providore'. The menu has changed but it still has great coffee, excellent service and really delicious food. The Breakfast Menu has good variety. The Bircher pancakes are a fave, but make sure you're hungry - the servings and big. Highly recommended.
Cute Cafe in Annandale with gorgeous street scape of wide streets and cute semi's. A group of about 10 of us (plus a dog that had to be kept in sight due to over protective owner) ate here for brekkie on a sunny Sunday morning. While it was crowded and we had to keep adding tables and chairs as our group grew and grew....maybe because we had so much to catch up on and coffees (v./ good) came quickly we didn't notice (or mind) a wait for the food, which was delicious and pretty reasonable value for Sydney.
Staff didn't try to hurry us along as we sat around our empty plates chatting for a good 45 minutes after and were more than accommodating with every request. The name has since changed (can't quite remember what) but I hope it comes up on rotation again in the not too distant future.
Had to wait about an hour for muesli. People love the food here but you have to wait forever, its almost like they try to do too much. One of the staff members was continually criticising another, was awkward.
Love this place, have only ever had the sandwiches, and whilst a bit expensive, they were absolutely delicious. Coffee is great, too, it can be difficult to get a seat though on the weekends, since the cafe is very popular.
I loved the look of this place, it is obviously child friendly but not so much as to scare away any other groups. Was not all that impressed with the wait for the food, although granted it was quite a busy day. The food was pretty average, I had the cured salmon with scrambled eggs on toast, it was all cold, the scrambled eggs runny and the toast tough. I did enjoy the salmon though.
A great cafe, when you can get into it! The food is fantastic especially the home made museli. Serves are generous and flavoursome. The coffee is consitently excellent as are the fruit smoothies. Staff are friendly and they are always attentive no matter how busy it gets. Very popular with prams which can make it quite difficult to manouver around, but a great atmosphere especially for a Sunday morning.
Food was bland at best. Staff didnt seem to care that we had waited a long time for the food to arrive. After mentioning our wait, we then watched the same person go and clean a few tables, then take a few orders. I then asked had the order been forgotten. Oh no we dont do that here sohen i told her i had waited for 50 minutes she kinda gulped and walked into the kitchen! Food came 10 minutes later!
If there's a better place to have breaky on a sunny weekend morning I can't find it. The food just tastes like food is supposed to taste, and they seem to take great pride in cooking eggs properly. Very family friendly too, things for the kids to do so they're not bouncing off the walls.
I love Hopscotch, I'd dine three times a day if I could. Great Coffee also!! But what really keeps me coming back is the absolutely fantastic Staff who stop and have a chat if it one of their unusually quiet days but all maintain a cool head when super busy and all done with a smile and personal care. Great place to take the kiddies!!
I love Hopscotch for brekkie. While a little on the pricey side, it is worth it for the lovely food, great atmosphere and quiet setting. Went again on Saturday and had to wait for a table but the staff kept letting us know what was happenning, and food came quickly and was fresh and tasty. A winner for me!
