OMG the hong kong chicken is the business! Back it up with the himalayan lamb, steamed gow gees to start and you're in for a taste sensation. You will think that you're back in the 70s but that adds to the charm and the service is top notch.

This is what a chinese restaurant was like in Sydney 20 years ago. Big room with lots of colours and fairy lights. Big menu offering just about everything cantonese. Two pages of supposedly non-traditional dishes but didn't really find them to be any different. Started with steamed dim sums, usual fat chunky affairs.

Mains had Hong Kong special chicken hotpot which was supposedly spicy but was really just crispy skin chicken served in a pot instead of on a plate. The Himalayan Lamb was really just mongolian lamb (which is also on the menu) again supposedly spiced up but not in reality. The special fried rice was nice and the banana splits were good. $6 corkage is a bit steep, but liked the complimentary prawn crackers at the start, oranges and rockmelon pieces after the mains and mints to finish. Many have warned it is expensive but I didn't find it so.

This is old fashioned tasty if a little oversweet westernised cantonese food. Filling and tasty but not authentic or adventurous.

The food and service at this restaurant is fantastic. The staff are friendly and attentive. I will say that I think it is a bit too pricey for a local chinese restaurant and I would only go back for more of a special occasion. However, if you are not worried about cost you won't be sorry.

Everyone thinks they know the best chinese restaraunt, but the Hong Kong is the real deal, the food is just outstanding, I could name half a dozen dishes that I would drool over, their fried rice is perfection, and the spicy salt and pepper prawns, oh my god. In 15 years of living around Sydney, I haven't found anywhere close, which makes me hate that its so far away (i.e. Newport). I'm never disappointed when I go back.

Note: It is a bit pricey, so don't go nuts when you order, but its worth every penny.

I love the old-fashioned style of this place. Great venue for families, very well run with brisk an efficient service. But - and this is the big but, when questioned, most of the meals have MSG in them. They are not marked on the menu so you have to ask. What a shame.

An all time family favourite. Always leave totally full but eagerly awaiting our next visit. Huge menu selection which makes it hard to narrow down your picks each visit, which is probably why we always over order and end up so full.

Used to love this place but over the last year or so, it has gone downhill a lot. Food is overpriced, and isn't as good as it used to be. It's still OK, but not worth raving about. I'm on the look out for a new Chinese.

What can you say about a restaurant that has been under the same ownership for as long as I can remember. This restaurant continues to produce a very high standard of service, quality of food at a reasonable price. This establishment has raised the bar in Chinese cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant whether you are a couple enjoying an evening meal or a family outing. You cannot go wrong with this choice.
