Today I went to Home Cafe for lunch with couple of interstate friends but we were all shocked and upset at the way we were treated. One lady in particular, gave us the most abysmal customer service I think we have ever come across. Upon delivering my gourmet pie and salad (which, admittedly, tasted great), I asked the lady if it was possible to have some sauce with it. She rolled her eyes and snapped back, "Next time, order it with your meal!" She left the room and the three of us were in shock! Seconds later she returned, slamming it on the table, and left again without a word, not even to acknowledge our "thank you" in trying to smooth over a very awkward moment.
The most offensive thing was that we had done nothing wrong at all. We were simply three extremely polite paying customers. I personally have never made a complaint to a café in my life but even I was gobsmacked! Upon settling the payment downstairs with the same woman, my friend noticed that we were being overcharged, and another awkward conversation began to heat up! After even ruder comments such as "figure the payment out between yourselves", she realised she had made a mistake and mumbled something under her breath. And then we left. I have been to this café several times before and have had no complaints until now but this incident brought a big downer on the limited time spent with my friends. I will not be going back.
Best hot chocolate in Sydney. The gluten free and dairy free treats are fantastic and the setting with the high chairs on glebe pt rd is so nice and comfy. Great place for a catch up and chat or an after dinner treat!
This place is new, and lifts the tone along the road where too many ordinary places seem to flourish. The wraps are great, salads yummy and they do a nice barbecue breakfast on the weekend - but it does get really busy. Am going to use the internet PC's soon - they look nice and clean, tidy. Oh, they have lots of second hand books for sale - I reckon they would do better havign more seating room, but I have seen people sitting and reading for ages.
