Good good music and good dj's in Home Bar (nightclub), the dresscode's could be better but not all bad. The security staff were polite and very helpful as the large crowds they deal with a lot of problems unless you are outside, your experience inside you would not have a clue with undistrubed night out!!!
The only problem is the inside downstairs bar, I got charged 21.00 for 2 smirnoff's and at the start of the night just was charged 16.00, bar prices can vary due to times of the night but at the end of my night I went to the same bar and was only charged 16.00!!?? I tested it again with the third bar tender and sixteen again then with the first and he charged 23!!!! watch out for this inside at the bottom bar!!!!!
Otherwise the outside bar is cheery and friendly as the inside too!! even the guy who rips you off!!! a huge dance floor is a bonus!!!!! with rooms to go to for your mood!! not a bad place but not what dreams of a non expensive night with the compleate package would include sorry lol..... good dj's but!?? good dance floor?? maybe not a super club anymore.
Well, Home Bar might be great on a sunny day sitting outside watching people, but for weekend - party nights out there are so many other places that are cheaper, offers 100 times better service and drinks. The bar is really messy and disorgansied.
As already mentioned by other reviewers, the setup is very awkward. For someone going there for the first time it would be easy to get lost. The bars are also hideous and dull to look at.
I went there on a Friday night for Sublime and of course I wasn't expecting to see a high class crowd. But the doorstaff really let themselves down. Many were getting in with daggy singlets and shorts. Dress regulations really must be tightened.
I bought one round of drinks. To my shock a vodka redbull cost $12. Where do they get off charging $12? First of all, they use plastic cups. Second, they pack the cup with heaps of ice. And third, they use Smirnoff instead of the better vodka Absolut. Complete rip off.
I spent a few hours at the Home Bar yesterday afternoon and was lucky enough to grab a table outside. It was quite nice to sit outside, have a bit of a 'people watch' and watch the sun set on a hot Sydney day.
This was my first time at Home bar and I was suprised at how relaxed it is and quite inexpensive. There are a definite mix of people that don' clash and everyone seemed to relax and enjoy themselves. One thing I liked about Home bar is that it wasn't noisy, so you can enjoy converstation as well as the view and being in a nice bar.
The staff seem quite rare as there wss only one person who was working behind the bar and maybe another 1 or 2 staff around. It meant you had to wait a little longer for drinks but also means you didn't have staff in your face all day. Would definately love to come back on another sunny saturday arvo!
A good atmosphere but when we asked the girl at the bar what was their best cocktail, the one she suggested was pretty bad. Not very good value but a good place to sit and watch the crowd pass by.
A nice place to have a quick drink with friends when it's not packed. Especially good if you can get a seat outside with the sun out. Though I'd move on after a while, particularly if you don't want to get too crowded by people.
Many people often confuse the club (Home) with the bar (HomeBar). While the club enjoys mixed opinion, the bar actually has a reputation of it's own. For a relaxed drink facing one of the most colourful and vibrant harbours in the world, this place is for you. Being the only bar on the eastern side of Darling Harbour to offer seating on the pavement, it attracts a large crowd during the day. Lunch is available until 4pm and is quite good value compared to other City/Darling Harbour establishments. The staff are some of the friendliest anywhere in Sydney and the crowd there on a Friday and Saturday night is upbeat and youthful. The only major downsides to the bar seem to be the limited choice of beers, as none are on tap, the limited amount of indoor space and the prices of drinks. Worth a regular visit when in the area.
Trying to be a swanky, City bar, it's not in London, NYC, etc..it should embody what makes Australia so great, instead of trying to be something it clearly isn't. Allthough, Estate Agents would love it, very superficial indeed-promises to be good, it just doesn't.
