Best service ever! Perfect timing with everything, discreet and really friendly service.
Really great value... food is fantastic (I love the vegetable pakoras and pistachio paneer!) and prices are very good. Can't wait to go back!

We were there a week ago and for a well versed indian dinner I can say the food was average at best! This was what I would call an indian restuarant for Aussies.

The place was packed and that was part of the attraction for us, however, there wasn't a single indian in the place. We should have left when we noticed this, anyway, we had a large meal and only ate about half. The meal was jam packed full of nuts, cream and sugar. Everything was very sweet.

We weren't very impressed in the end. It was nice for a short period but the cream and sugar can only go so far. If you are in cleveland st for an india night out, try somewhere else, there are lots of places. Maybe try Maya. It ain't so bad and guess what indians eat there!

Raw onion, raw octopus, and very expensive for whatever it is. I wondered who wrote the reviews? Will not go back nor introduce it to anyone. Be warned.

Arrived at 6:30 pm on Saturday night to claim a table for eleven since they didn't take bookings. We were accommodated well and they allowed time for the whole party to arrive before pressing us for orders.

The food was well enjoyed by all. I ordered the spiciest curry which was the lamb Vindaloo. It tasted pretty good. It was spicy enough for an Australian palate that has conquered the spices of India. Not sure if it would meet the spice requirements of an Indian however. There were choices available for a soft palate.

The restaurant was warm, perhaps, a little stuffy inside. Beware of the BYO. That only includes wine. Beer is sold there.

The owners of the Holy Cow ran an Indian restaurant at La Perouse a few years back. We thought we should finally check them out.

The first disappointment was that the senior staff was totally unresponsive when I said "G'day" and mentioned the old days at La Perouse. Mmm, it must have been something I said.

The service was polite and the menu interesting. However, compared to our favorite Indian places, the food was not quite up to standard. For example, the eggplant dish was very oily and all the servings a little small.

We had a reasonable eating experience here but probably will not return given the wealth of better Indian restaurants nearby.

We have been a few times to Holy Cow for dinner. Each time we have enjoyed the different curries and since some of us really like a hot one, we have appreciated that the curries at Holy Cow really have a kick. The one thing, however, that has ruined our evening on a couple of occasions is the senior staff. He is very gruff and looks like he has no desire to be there. He seems to want to get the night over and when asked about things on the menu he is often impatient and rude.

The last time that we were there they actually started to turn the music off, turn the lights up and make it very obvious to us that we should move on. Despite the food being good it is quite ruined by the unhospitable behaviour of the senior staff.

Very good food. Not very good the king prawns and the ice cream, but the rest was beautiful!

Had a great dinner here with my husband on Saturday night. Despite this restaurant not taking bookings we had a table for two in less than 5 minutes. Having said that, the food was so good that I would happily go back and wait a lot longer if that's what it took to eat here again! I can't remember the name of the chicken curry we had but it's one of their signature dishes with french brandy in it and it was incredible.

We also had a goat curry which was pretty tasty although the goat wasn't quite as tender as I've had before. And to top it off service was quick and friendly, and the bill was a lot better than expected given how full we were when we left!

I visited Holy Cow largely on the basis of some of the reviews here. This is no doubt a very good Indian restaurant. The service from the senior waiter/owner is very good, a really nice man. The food is way above average, but I would not say it is the best Indian I have had in Sydney. The vegetable samosas are divine although, perhaps, it is the gorgeous mint dipping sauce that I was in love with.

For mains the lamb rogan josh was excellent. Our meal was let down by the Goan Fish Curry. While it was nice, the fish was a little overcooked, and it was far too spicy. I am no stranger to spice but this was too much. The room is small and gets very noisy when the restaurant is full. Note, they do not take bookings. Price-wise Holy Cow is a bargain, much cheaper than most Indian restaurants in Sydney. And BYO with no corkage is an added bonus.

So, overall, this is certainly a great Indian restaurant, and if you are in the area I’d definitely recommend a visit.

Best curry in Sydney - Fact! We are hardened curry eating Poms from the north who have been trying to get a decent curry since we arrived in Syders to no avail. Paradise now found!
