Quite easily the best japanese restaurant I have been to. The food is excellent service is great and the waitresses are pretty good looking. I highly recommend it for a great night out.
I dine here regularly and must say that this is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Sydney! The food is fantastic and always very fresh. Simon, the chef always has a smile on his face and remembers me each time I visit.
The service is also quite good, the food comes out in no time and the waitresses all seem to just know when you're ready to order. The value of each dish is extremely decend considering the freshness and quality of the food though I must say the ambience and music could do with a bit more work, a bit of a renovation or interior/exterior decorating would be a good idea. A really nice place for a business meeting though, perhaps or just a catch-up with a friend.
Was here last weekend dinner with my girlfriend, after the dinner, I finally understand why this is a quiet place to dine in because the food was awful! The sashimi was not fresh and we request to change but the chef refuse. Please don't expect to get service because I cannot get my green tea refill even 3 times asking the waitress. Hey guys, there are more Japanese restaurant in Chatswood with better price. Never come back again and will not recommend anyone.
Dined here after work with a friend and it was a very pleasurable experience. The environment is very nice and relaxing, and the menu (although quite scattered) offers a wide range of selections. We ordered the tempura with wheat noodle soup, and the beef teriyaki don. Both were very well cooked, and while not the best we have had, was close enough to demand a reasonable price tag.
Thankfully that wasn't the case, however, as the prices were relatively low given the standard of food quality and service. We would be very happy to return here possibly for lunch next time!
Environment is nice, a good place to dine, but the food is poor. Sashimi was not fresh, management refused to change it. Overall a very bad experience, I won't be dining here ever again!
My partner and I went to Hinode for dinner in the early evening and were greeted by the chef and waitress as we came up the stairs. We were promptly shown to our seats and the waitress took our drink order (a green tea and a pineapple juice) while we checked out the menu. The tea and Goulburn Valley (?) bottled juice came shortly after.
The menu offered nothing out of the ordinary in terms of Japanese cuisine. Of course, there is the sushi and sashimi options, teriyaki chicken, tonkatsu and such. We ordered a variety of starters: a salad (very good), agedashi tofu (average, a bit too salty), and beef wrapped around asparagus spears (too dried out with too much sauce). For the main, we ordered the nabeyaki udon. Not being particularly hungry, we planned to share all the dishes. Unfortunately, the wait staff were not very intuitive and we had to ask for plates to share our entrees, and my tea cup was never refilled. We were also served a dish we did not order, and when we informed the waitress, she insisted that we had (this also happened to a family seated not too far from us). When the main arrived, noodles with chicken, prawn tempura and cabbage in a hot pot, I was excited as I had it before on a previous visit and it was my favourite dish. I was eager for my partner to try it but unfortunately, the soup was bland, the tempura had too much batter, and the chicken were tiny, virtually non-existent chunks.
Despite the friendly chef who greeted and farewelled us, the service was poor, language being a key factor. The food was what you would expect from a Japanese fast food stall and not a restaurant.
I found the menu selection to be quite limited and the location is too tucked away from the restaurant area in Chatswood. The service was good and I quite enjoyed the food. I tried their Okonomiyaki, Sukiyaki and Fried Octopus and they were nice. I wish that they can give more servings and put more lights in the restaurant to beautify the main room.
The best value Japanese around. The sushi and sashimi platter is top class. All of the staff are Japanese and sometimes language is an issue. The beef Teapanyaki at $11 is one of the great bargains.
It was more like a Chinese restaurant gone wrong and thought they might as well hang some Japanese drapes and call it "Hinode" and attract the customers. Food was average and service was below part. Ever had Sukiyaki without bowls or spoons to eat with. Also it was the first time I was told that the tamago entree was to be eaten without soy sauce or wasabi as the natural flavour was the way to eat it. What planet were these people from. Perhaps the last straw was when the waitress (mild case of OCD) snatched away the disposable chopsticks from my 2yrs old who was playing next to the unoccupied table and said "can't play" and put it back neatly over the napkin. Diners beware, you will be disappointed. I kindly rewarded the waitress with a massive tip of $1.20.
