Met two friends who were going out of town for an early dinner. As my partner couldn't join us I called the restaurant & changed the booking to 3 people. When we got there we still had four seats & had to arrange the table ourselves as it was so close to the wall I could not even pull the chair out.
The menu was inexpensive but you get what you pay for. To our surprise they asked us to pay the bill before we got to eat anything. The waitress seemed embarassed to ask & I can't really blame her.
Apparently the burgers were simple but reasonable. I ordered the "Seafood Pasta" which consisted of spaggetti, a couple of tinned oysters, Napolatana sauce & one king prawn. Very bland.
I recommend for a nice quiet drink but not for the food. Bar service is quick but the restaurant portion needs a lot of work.
Vegetarian options are extremely limited. The meat eaters in the group seemed satisfied. It is good, hearty pub fare and the atmosphere is lovely. Staff are wonderful. If you want some peace and quiet then book a table upstairs - very civilised!
This pub is amongst my all time favourites - although after its refirbishment (many years ago now), it's trying too hard to be Irish - yet it's a great Australian pub.
