We always go for the mussels and wine deal - one of the best lunch values in Sydney. I haven't been very impressed with other choices from the menu so we stick with the mussels. Always consistent. Service is OK.

Went there last night and had appalling service from a waiter (oh excuse me, that's right, he "doesn't take orders" so isn't a waiter). The place is noisy and the restaurant obviously understaffed. The only redeeming thing about this place is the beer and the mussels.

Went along for my husband's birthday and this was the second time we have been here. Got a table right up the top with a view of the whole restaurant. The food was fantastic but we ordered too much as the servings are large. Excellent beer, especially the ones on tap. My husband got a hold of one of the Beer Passports so I know that we will be returning often so that can be filled up.

I had the salmon and the portion size was large. Very tasty and the desserts amazing. The place was very busy and so extremely noisy. Sometimes I couldn't hear my friends who were at the end of the same table. The place is nicely decorated but needs a sound engineer to sound proof it a bit.

Good food and yummy wide selection beers, good place for gathering with group of people. Mussels lover this is your place! And don't forget to try the slow roasted suckling pig but you should order 2 days beforehand to avoid dissapointment.

Kriek &Hoegarden are my fave, but others are nice too like chimay and kwak. Either lunch or dinner always busy, hard to have quiet conversation sometimes, but this is no surprise coz they have great food and beers! Waffles is nice too.

Even though not cheap meal but worth coz you get good taste food and big portion. High-ceiling interior with big bar and unique stuff stuck on walls, feels like walking into a different world.

I've been twice now. Yes: it is very noisy and hard to have conversations with those seated at the same table. The food is a bit bland and there's not a lot of choice. But for the beer connoisseur, it's heaven! I am not a beer lover myself, but I manage to enjoy the fruit beers on offer. The most impressive thing about this place is its size. The 2 (3?) storey ceiling height is quite something.

The selection of beers here is great, although a lot of the food could just be described as ordinary, good, tasty, but ordinary schnitzels, steak etc. The establishment is a little on the cheesy, almost touristy side, expected maybe with its location in the Rocks. Would definitely recommend to groups of friends out for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat.

Just above standard fare - the mussels are definitely the pick of the lot but the other mains including the steaks, schnitzels and fish are pretty ordinary - especially the steaks which are generally overcooked.

The beer selection is excellent though - although a bit pricey. The prices for mains and entrees are reasonable in light of the area and the serving size.

I do tend to come back - purely because the pricing is good, and this kind of atmosphere at this cost is difficult to find elsewhere.

Love the food and love the atmosphere. I have been to this place 3 times in the last four months. I can say that the bigger the group, the more likely you will get good service. Went once with just my boyfriend and we didn't get much attention. First time, I had kangaroo which was interesting and as expected. Second time, shared the stew, mussels and rabbit with the boyfriend...amazing. We're still talking about the slow cooked meat stew. The combination of taste and texture are just perfect.

Atmosphere is great no matter where you sit. No ambience (to be expected). Oh, and the beer...superb. They have something for everyone, even those that aren't big on beer. I usually go for the fruit ones. I already pick out my choices from the menu for the next round.

Update: went for a birthday dinner sometime towards end of 2006. Chose the mussels...had some in a previous visit but this time round, they were so much smaller! I had to have extra chips to fill up. Bit disappointed this visit.
