Helm Bar is the ultimate location for a multitude of events - from the small and intimate to a big bash. Helm offers two casual yet contemporary separate spaces that are flexible enough to accommodate what ever your event visions might be. The Lower Deck outdoor area has a capacity for up to 150 people and is smack on the Cockle Bay Waters edge, while Helm’s upstairs bar (with a capacity of 400) brings together gleaming glass facades and timber for a fresh, elegant look.
In addition to its stylish setting, Helm Bar offers a diverse selection of tempting canapé and bistro cuisine. Entertainment/Live Music

Dj's on Friday and Saturday nights and in the warmer months bands on Sunday afternoons. The Dj's play funky house music mixed with some golden oldies to get everyone dancing. Sunday arvo bands will change between jazz, acoustic, smaller scale acts so your conversation isn't drowned out whilst you have a drink and enjoy the views.

I love this place, I eat here at least 2 times a week, they have great daily specials and the beer garden is great on a nice sunny day. On fridays they are extremely busy and sometimes there is a wait on the food, but I dont mind because it gives us a chance to have a look at the great view. Will be back for sure!

Avoid this restaurant. The service was appalling. It took over an hour for lunch to be served for four adults and even then one main never came. The waitress did not even apologize and no compensation for the terrible experience was offered.

Love this place for cheap & tasty mid week meals. Its not flash but one of the best value places to dine in darling harbour I reckon. $10 steak is hard to beat! Service is sometimes blase but whatever, its not meant to be that kind of place anyway.

Ordered a medium rare steak come out after 45 minutes medium to well done after taking it back and asking for a new one was told it was cooked how I asked. After asking for a new one and waiting another 45 minutes after my friends had eaten went and asked and said I was leaving and asked for a refund the waiter walked off and got my meal. Too late got my refund and left. Service was terrible only interested in serving tables where younger single females were. Never again.

Helm is a fab place for Friday night drinks - great pub food, gorgeous view and you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a satisfactory meal.

As a bar, Helm is great. Fantastic ambience for a casual Sunday, great view and not too cramped in regards to seating.

But when it comes to food service, either do it well or don't bother running anything other than hot-chips and wedges.

Out of the last three visits we have encountered incorrect meals and issues with trying to get the correct dish provided. Delays on service of 1 hour for a dish that should take minimal preperation time (fresh prawns in shells).

The last encounter was enough reason not to try this place again for anything but a quiet beer, shameful really because the location has it all.

Brought a deal through living deals great way to check out the restaurants seafood platter and bottle of wine and we were not dissapointed at all the seafood plater was very nice as the bottle of wine great location at darling harbour service was good very friendly.

Omg, LOL! This place should not be serving food. I recently used a jumponit voucher for their seafood platter for 2 plus a bottle of wine. The deal was not worth $123. You could go down to your local fish market and get a better meal for under $25. Staff were not welcoming or even attempted to be poilte. The only plus was the view and the wine. The whole place had the feel of a backpackers hostel, ok for a casual drink but would never eat here again.

Went there today to use seafood voucher... ended up ordering more. Seafood platter is clearly not for two. The prawns were nice but the octopus was tasteless (even when it was swimming in sauce). Mussels were overcooked and very small. The bay bugs were delicious but there was only one cut in half so there was pretty much nothing lol! Seppelt Fleur de Lys was nice. Anyhow... I paid $47 for the voucher and I believe the seafood platter was worth the same. Not $123 as advertised. I was disappointed that we had to spend more to be 'satisfied' so to say. Anyhow I don't think I will come back next time.

Hospitality at the Helm Bar is excellent. A cosy bar which in winter was well lit and warmed up making you just want to keep having more drinks and enjoying the atmosphere which to add had an excellent view of the beautiful harbour, on offer was the sea food platter which was generous for two with well cooked sea food, but more even more memorable was the superior customer service that the staff have. They made us feel very welcome. The manager Matt is attentive and polite and the bar staff equally friendly and continually make sure your needs are met. They were very attentive and I'll definitely be coming back and bringing my friends especially during the Rugby World Cup month.
