Had not been to the Hellenic club for over 15 years. Was quite impressed with the meals. There was a couple of "peasant" type meals on the menu. Had the lamb with endives and egg and lemon which was delicious. Almost as good as my mother used to make. The two waiters serving were very friendly. Will not be leaving it so long next time to come back. Also nice view over looking Hyde park.
I often visit the Hellenic for lunch. I enjoy the atmosphere - it's very relaxed and quiet. The seafood platter is great. The staff are attentive without being too overbearing.
Just a note for the girls - make sure you get off on the right floor - I came barrelling out of the lifts one day onto a floor of only men playing cards. Doh!
Nice little get away from the busy hype in the city. Great for a lunch time meal or a relaxing dinner. Sit back and allow the staff to look after you. The food is delish, as all Greek food tastes - Feta, olives, kalamari, octopus and the Greek salad with a little ouzo.
Try and get a table near the windows for lovely view over Hyde Park. Dining room has an RSL feel to it but functional nonetheless. The flavours in some dishes were a little bland (is that maybe the way it's supposed to be?) but the lamb is to die for! I ordered Lamb with Potatoes (exciting, eh?) and out comes this lamb which just pulls apart with a fork...succulent, moist, slow cooked probably since Aesop was a boy...yummm. Served with uninspiring vegetables but honestly it's all about the meat!
