Welcome to the new beating heart of Mosman - Hawthorn Mosman.
We look forward to welcoming you in for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner Tuesday to Sunday and breakfast on weekends.
Our heritage listed, freestanding cottage has been lovingly refitted by Natasha Levak and her design team from Coco Republic in conjunction with architect Jeremy Bull of Akin Creative.
Our Modern Australian and seasonally driven menu has been devised by the shining star of the kitchen Marco Salvator - the highly accomplished former Head Chef of Bills Woollahra.
Hawthorn Mosman has become the local speak-easy - somewhere to drop in for a coffee or glass of wine and share plate, a fantastic breakfast or a fabulous lunch or dinner. Hawthorn offers a well-priced and healthy children's menu.
With an evolving list of sixty international wines of which 26 are served by the glass, the wine bar and restaurant offer an enviable selection to please all palates.

Went there last week for my older brothers 31st birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed my rib eye steak, yet would have liked to have a bit more salad or chips with it as it looked a little plain on the plate. Tasted lovely though. I love the setting, so cute in an old cottage and different to the rest of modern mosman. We'll be back for sure.

4 of us enjoyed a lunch here recently. Warmly greeted and shown our table in the front courtyard, I was full of anticipation that we would enjoy a very comfortable few hours over lunch. We weren't disappointed.
The meals we selected from a concise menu were tasty and well presented, the service was friendly and accommodating, the ambience pleasant so overall value was excellent. Cannot finish without mentioning that their coffee was superb. I would return even just for this.

After 12 months of intending to go to Hawthorn Mosman, we finally got a table on a rainy Tuesday evening.
Service, Food and Ambience is perfectly matched for a relaxed dinner with friends. Pricing is spot on for this type of dining experience. I was a little surprised to see a fairly limited (by the bottle) wine list, however, it was appropriately priced. Perhaps, they have limited storage?
We'll be back! Highly recommended!

12 of us went for breakfast a few saturday mornings ago for my boyfriends birthday.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The food was divine, the atmosphere was lovely and the service was topnotch. We arrived a little late and the polite waitress advised us that we needed to get our order in for breakfast as the service was ending, this was fine and once our order was in there was not rush at all.
We definitely recommend and we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Have had a few great meals here. Wonderful service - staff all seem to be fully briefed on everything and fall over themselves to help. Food was just wonderful and the value was excellent. Ambience was great, although tables inside can become a little noisy if there is a large group at another table. However, our waiter warned us of a large group of women arriving later and seated us away from them, great consideration for us and we loved Emily's service. We'll be back again.

Hawthorn just keeps getting better. The Char grilled Ribeye steak is a cracker.
Response from Management:
Hi Dionmorrison.
Thanks so much for your fantastic review. Helen and I have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we have received since we opened early last year.
I have to agree the 350 gram ribeye, cafe de paris butter and shoe string fries is a cracker. We have a couple of exceptional new wines by the glass (that Mark and I tried prior to xmas) that will match beautifully with it.
Hope to welcome you back again soon.
Cheers,
Sean

We just had dinner at Hawthorn tonight (Friday night) and we were very pleased with our first experience. Lovely and tasteful setting, quick and friendly staff, and good food.
We were very impressed with the portion sizes of the nibbles. We had the Grilled Chorizo and Grilled Haloumi ($6/each) and the Zucchini flowers ($19) based off a previous review. The mains were good.
The service was exceptional. A very helpful and friendly waiter helped with our every need and wasn't over-bearing. We were very impressed with how quickly the food was served after ordering.
The only detractor was the inside dining area was getting quite loud with patron's conversations but that is to be expected on a friday night and wooden floors.
We will definitely be returning here.
Response from Management:
Dear Insanity540.
Thanks so much for the great review.

Look forward to welcoming you back soon - next time please introduce yourself.
Cheers,
Sean

We went for dinner. The look is great and the layout works well with one little drawback. You have to leave the premises and enter the small shopping zone that it is attached to and find the small and very basic, but private (locked) bathrooms. Not an elegant aspect of an otherwise elegant establishment. Not something management can change, but nonetheless something that customers must confront. It is a relaxed vibe, cafe style for day and bistro style for evening. The menu is sensibly limited, and they do what they do very well. The service was friendly, informed and efficient. Price was nice too. An enjoyable option in a very competitive market, and we'll certainly recommend and return.
Response from Management:
Hi JRA Racing.
Thanks for your review.
I am on the same page re the bathrooms, thankfully a few changes are in the pipeline. Unfortunately there is no way to relocate the bathrooms as the building is heritage listed. As such we are doing our best to make them a little less basic! New sinks were installed yesterday and a fresh coat of paint is scheduled for next week, with tiling to come!
Thanks again for your positive comments re the vibe, food and service.
I look forward to welcoming you back to Hawthorn Mosman.
Cheers,
Sean

What a find. My wife was invited to afternoon tea with her grandmother recently at Hawthorn where she reckons she had the best scones ever. She returned home raving about this new place in Mosman owned by someone associated with the amazing Jonah's Restaurant at Whale Beach.
We took a group of six there on Saturday night and had a cracker. We started with champagne and tapas in the cool little wine bar which was overflowing with customers. They have a great wine list with a huge number of wines by the glass and all very reasonably priced.
Menu is very good. I found a couple of standout dishes for each course, the consensus around the table was that the entire meal hit the spot. The huge ribeye is fantastic and so too are the zucchini flowers.
I am now raving about the place to all my friends and work colleagues. If you are in Mosman I highly recommend Hawthorn.
Response from Management:
Hi Slippery.
Thanks for the great review of Hawthorn Mosman.
Just to clarify - I was General Manager of Jonah's Whale Beach for six years until August 2010. The owner of Jonah's has nothing to do with Hawthorn Mosman. Interestingly all the chefs at Hawthorn Mosman worked for me at Jonah's - at Hawthorn Mosman we have high calibre fine dining chefs cooking a fantastic in season menu at very reasonable prices.
I hope to welcome you back to Hawthorn Mosman soon.
Cheers.
