The senior staff of this place needs to get a grip on herself. Here is yet another review where she is the star for all of the wrong reasons.

I took two young friends to dinner to celebrate an accomplishment. A young waitress began to take our orders when she was rudely interrupted by the senior staff for no apparent reason and sent her away. The senior staff then proceeded to ask us all over again what we wanted, so we had to trot out again what the young waitress had already written on her own order pad. Then the senior staff asked one of my guest why she was dining out with "an old man", embarrassing both of us at the same time. An extraordinary performance from a person who claims years of experience in "hospitality".

You are a rude woman and I suspect you have been oversampling your wine stock. Although the food was good, your crass rudeness has made your place a never-again experience.

It was absolutely a shocking experience! The senior staff is definitely a terrible woman!

We had a company dinner there on a quiet weekday night, we order plenty of food at about 6.30pm. By 8.30 I haven’t got my dish. I asked the senior staff when can I expect my food as I have to leave at 9pm. Instead of giving any answer, she started complaining! She whinging about our order: “you should not go for separate order, you should go for banquet, separate order is slow.” (quote exactly what she said!)

Then I asked her “Do we have the right to order separately?” She said “yes but banquet is more easy” (and more expensive of course).

After about 10 minutes a waitress brought a lamb dish to me, which is not what I ordered. I told her “this is not what I ordered”. Then again the senior staff come to me and point to a lobster dish which my colleague next to me just finished. She walk to my colleague on the table: “See, this is your dish, you already had it, what are you asking for?!”

I got really annoyed honestly (in front of my colleagues!). I told her very seriously “This is not my dish. You brought me lamb, and yet you said you know I ordered lobster.”

She has nothing to say but still come back to me with anger “Ok, what is your order then?”. I asked her “why you did not go back and check your order from beginning?” She replied: “if you not tell me, I will leave you here.” She walked away as she said.

This was the Only extremely unpleasant dinning experience in my 4 years’ Sydney life. Good on you! My whole company knew you now.

I'm Chinese and love all Asian foods. Just rating the food: Below Average Asian.

Was warned by another Chinese friend that this place wasn't authentic and he was right. Beware restaurants that claim to serve Chinese/Indonesian/ Malaysian/Singaporean/Thai. They try to be the jack of all trades and actually master none.

Friends tried the Pad Thai, didn't look like Pad Thai normally served by other Thai restaurants. I tried the Char Kway Teow, didn't look or taste like other Singaporean restaurants. In fact the Pad Thai and Char Kway Teow looked almost identical. The lazy kitchen staff were trying to pass off the same dish as 2 different dishes! The Char Kway Teow left a strong garlic aftertaste in my mouth!

Another friend tried the fried barramundi and it came without veggies even though the menu said that they were included. The waitress even had to check the menu when challenged. This restaurant has changed hands many times. A long time ago it was a decent Chinese restaurant that Chinese customers would frequent.

Notice the clientele has changed significantly, the type that think the fortune cookies served at the end are authentic.

We dined here on Saturday night and the good was good, very tasty and tender. The only complaint I can make is the restaurant lacks service with a smile. We will be returning soon with friends.

Went there tonight with my husband. When we arrived the restaurant was not very busy and the waiters/waitress were only interested in taking our drink orders. Food was good and served piping hot. Gwen only seemed interested in talking to her regular customers which is a shame as we chose this restaurant after the experiencing the food and service when she was at Beecroft many years ago.

We have been several times, which shows that we had been happy with the place. I recommended it to friends and family, and we went as a group of 10. The service on this occasion was just the worst I've seen in many years of restaurant visits all over Sydney. I basically felt humiliated.

Not sure about the other reviews on here, but had dinner here for a birthday and had a fantastic time. Staff were friendly and attentive, with Gwen being a great hostess. No other Chinese restaurant looks like this in the area. Food was top notch. Will dine again, and would recommend to others.

One of the worst dining experience I've ever had. The service was so bad. The waiter and waitress seems to have no idea what they are doing. I ordered a green curry chicken and the duck pancake. The curry is so watery and the duck pancake is like being squeezed. Not recommended.

A number of work colleagues and I decided to celebrate Melbourne Cup at Gwen’s Restaurant. Seated in the far corner of the room, we found it difficult to watch the race. To add to this, the TV reception during the race was poor.

The food was good but the service dreadful. Some even missed out on coffee and dessert because it arrived too late. There was only one sweep because the owner was too busy to organise another. Even the Best Hat parade was a farce as the prize was given to a woman, who clearly didn’t have the best hat, on the grounds that she had attitude! Will definitely not be going there again!

Been here a couple of times before and have always enjoyed the duck pancakes. It was 7.00pm on a Friday night so I was surprised to see it so quiet. Below comments probably explain why. Food was ok, service was fair though we had to ask for water which normally would have been provided. Missed the former head waiter who would always have a joke. Still better than most suburban Chinese restaurants, would probably go again.
