This can barely pass for Mexican food. You have no option about what goes into your burrito/quesadilla/tacos; you choose one of their 9 options. Not only do you get no option, you get a very bland burrito as well. For the price (which is insanely high), the product should be much, much better. And definitely stay away from what they claim to be nachos - it's more like chili poured on top of some tortilla chips.
The taco's were better than most places around Sydney, the hot sauce was also very good (opposed to the Australian version of Mexican that is usually mice meat with diced tomato cheese and sour cream, none of which should be in a taco).
I ordered 2 x soft shell tacos. Instead of having fresh grilled shredded or diced meat, it was like a thick porridge the beans had a purple colouring in a gelatinous mix also was given 2 x flour tortilla on each I assume to hold the soggy taco together. In summing up, for $9 it's better than most fast food but if you want something a little more authentic head down the main drag in the cross.
Best Mexican food I've had in Australia. I make it a point to visit this place when I come visit Sydney. The burritos are what you'd get back in the US. Price is a bit noticeable though, but considering how hard it is to get real Mexican ingredients, it's forgivable.
Dropped in yesterday after a spot of shopping and was impressed. Yes it's fast food but the service was friendly and efficient and the food was quite good. If you compare this to some of Sydney's other Mexican restaurants it's great value for money for a quick and tasty feed. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu.
Hola Guzman y Gomez! Your tortillas are the most yummiest I have ever tasted, I never thought they could taste this way and so good too! But why did you have to update the recipe? When I visited your tacqueria in Newtown in December '07 I was really feeling so full after eating it and I thought to myself wow, muy grande!
But now I see that you have change the ingredients, the rice and meat topping are layered, not mixed anymore, and the portion has shrunken. Then when I visited your other store in Kings Cross yesterday the portion there was muy pequeña again, but the price was not. Oh brothers, I think this is the beginning of the end of our relationship. Adiós hermanos.
After spending 2 months travelling through Mexico, and my girlfriend lived there for a year, we were pretty excited by the prospect of some "authentic" Mexican food.
Unfortunately, it fell very much short of the real thing. Yes, it is only supposed to be a tacqueria, yes, their food is not tex-mex, but "tasteless" doesn't mean "authentic" and "tasteless" would be a good approximation of my experience there.
Service is nothing special, similar to a fast food restaurant, you order at a counter, and you take it to your table. Tacherias actually bring the food to your table in Mexico, but I guess they spent too much money on their flashy interior and marketing to pay the staff to bring the food over.
My biggest gripe is value for money. It was totally atrocious, I spent 25$ for myself and my girlfriend but we both walked out hungry. Serving sizes were miniature and we felt totally ripped off and disappointed. Will never return. Better off returning to Mexico!
After being conned into going shopping with a lady friend (she’s really hot) I was stoked to see a GYG Taqueria in Newtown! She was concerned about unhealthy food, but the staff reassured her that it was actually healthy! I didn’t care, all I knew was that it was tasty, filling and reminded me of my Mexico trip.
My curning stomach was eternally grateful and the girl was impressed, much better than her salad idea! Less than 10 buck for a feed too. I had a beef guerreo burrito with tomatillo hot sauce (which isn’t over bearing), and the lass had chicken and pork tacos (almost nil fat). Even splurged and grabbed a flan - left a great taste in my mouth. I’m now a big fan, get a burrito up ya!
