Service I got recently was below par, wait staff served drinks on wrong table and not following direction. Took about 1 hr and a half for all the meals to be served and 15mins for wait staff to serve cutlery on the table. Price for what I paid should have been buckley's.

Was recommended this place by our neighbour who Raves about it, we were greeted by a lovely waitress and we had bread with cheese for entree, really fresh and very filling. My partner had veal boscaiola which was Divine and I had the pork skewers, really fresh and tasty. Owner was very friendly and helpful. We will go back for sure.

Ordered the traditional assortment of pork, beef, lamb and chicken served on the large wooden trays. Absolutely unbelievable flavour! I enjoyed the pork, chicken and one of the cheeses the best - they cook it in a traditional Macedonian (Balkan) way with fillings that are to die for. I ate and enjoyed so much that I got a lot for my money - the bill was a pleasant surprise. Go to this place and you might see me there!

Been here twice. The food is pretty good and the entertainment is ok. Only problem is that the alcohol is pretty expensive. $30 for a cheap bottle of Lindmens and if you want you can buy a bottle of Johnny red for $100! The entrees and mains are also pretty pricey for what they are. Service is good. If this place had cheaper food and alcohol. I would love it.

The exposed insulation on the ceiling in the outdoor area is a bit of a mood killer. The food was great! It took me back to Croatia. The service was excellent, good recommendations were made by the waitress. There is live music on Friday and Saturday nights, it's a bit Balkan but it's ok, it's bearable. Overall I really enjoyed the food and the service and I will be going back there asap!

Stumbled upon The Great Balkan on the way to Kogarah tonight, and were we happy about it!

The service was five star, the two waitresses on tonight were so attentive and helpful, letting us know what we should try out as first-time eaters at a Balkan restaurant. Ordered the fried calamari, it was beautiful, as was the haloumi. The Makalo (I'm sure this is the right spelling) garlic and chilli dip is sublime, it's so sweet and delicious, we filled up so much on this that we couldn't finish our mains.

I had the Kebapi, which are chevapi sausages and they were brilliant, while my girlfriend had the penne country style which was so cheesy and delicious, the perfect meal for a cold rainy night.

All in all the Great Balkan in Kogarah should be a definite addition to your eat-out list, try it and you won't be disappointed!

P.S- wait until you see the fantastic surprise at the end of your meal, not only is the food super affordable for the quantity you're given, the bill arrives at your table in the cutest little treasure chest you've ever seen!

Really great atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights with fresh reasonably priced food. If you like anything Balkan give this place a try!

The food was presented beautifully and tasted even better. The service is fantastic and the staff are very helpful and always on task. The Great Balkan Cuisine is definitley a unique restaurant and is very much worth going to.

Tried the Platter for Two and thoroughly enjoyed it. Traditional meat and cheeses were very tasty, their specialty pork sausage was an absolute standout. The owner took the time to speak with us and provide great music. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and other readers. Must see.
