I really like Govindas, even though it's not really healthy (lots of white food and cheese), it's cheap. Would be nice to take some wine, but I guess it makes the customer turnover quicker without people drinking wine. It's a good, cheap, casual place for a veggie meal with a small and quaint cinema as an extra bonus if you wish.

We had a date there the other night and it was awesome, the cinema package is really unique and a treat! You get to lay on beds and enjoy a movie. The food is vegetarian buffet, nothing fancy but pretty good. Good place for a date!

We had the buffet last night and it was delicious, healthy food. We really enjoyed it. I would have liked to have been able to bring or buy some wine but no big deal. The staff are perfect. A lot of more expensive Sydney restaurants could learn something from these guys. It cost us $23 each for buffet and a ginger beer, that's ok but I was expecting it to be cheaper. Still reasonable value though given the quality of the food and the ambience of the restaurant.

I had been told about this place years ago but can't believe it took me this long to actually get there. Well worth it! I attended Kirtan on a Wednesday and found it a truly blissful atmosphere and experience. After enjoying the beautiful sacred music and getting into the vibe, it was time to go upstairs and enjoy my bowl of soup and Unlimited visits to the indian buffet! There are pappadums, bread rolls, soup, 2 different kinds of rice, a few different veg curries, chutneys, salad, yoghurt, fried potato, pakoras to name a few.

Imagine my surprise to receive all this value for only $10. I honestly think it's an act of service to make this available to people at that price. Yes you do sing for your supper in a way, but you don't leave feeling empty in any sense of the word. Well done Govinda's! I shall be back regularly!

I heard Govinda's was the best vegetarian food in Sydney, so I decided to give it a go and was sadly disappointed! If chips, papadums, one soup and a bowl of plain lettuce for salad is the best they can do, I would give it a miss! The service was ok, but the whole experience was not worth it, even the cinema was quite poor. I would rather pay the same price and see a movie in a proper theatre with real projection and sound equipment so you can enjoy the movie!

Love this place. Consistently good food, good value smiling wait-staff and despite the size of the restaurant, it has a cozy feel. Even my desperately carnivorous partner is happy to come here.

Like other reviewers I found the food to be a bit plain. Some of my favourite Indian dishes have been vegetarian, so thats no excuse.

Whatever you do, do not try the alcohol free wine, ghastly. Fortunately, we had popped into the bar next door for predinner drinks. I enjoyed the cinema though.

I love this place and always have a good time when I go. Its true that there isn't a huge selection but what there is, is very tasty and plentiful. The service has always been a little hit and miss. Over the years I have taken my very fussy mom, my carnivore of a boyfriend and my indian friends here, they have all loved it. The cinema is great too but make sure you allow enough time to eat and then queue for a good seat, or should I say futon.

Such a quaint, non pretentious place to eat! Lovely staff there, and the food is perfect. Very romantic, for couples that like cheap and wanna eat plate after plate infront of one another!

Went for the movie/dinner deal and absolutely loved the cinema. Unfortunately, I absolutely hated the dinner afterwards. The food was cold, choice was very limited and of the options that were available none of them were tasty. The rice was hard and had been obviously lying around for a while.

Where we sat in the restaurant was brightly lit and felt like a canteen. The service was almost non existent but we were offered a drink just as we were leaving. I would definitely return for the cinema but even if the food came free I wouldn't eat at Govinda's again.
