The staff here are quite sweet and friendly. The menu is extensive and has a mixture of Vietnamese and Thai. The salt and pepper king prawns are really tasty and they do a pretty decent beef pho! (agree with the other reviews that the decor is kinda average, but hey, they have the monopoly on decent vietnamese food in Cronulla).

When you walk into this place for the first time, the bright pink walls are a bit of a shock. The place looks a bit dated but I can imagine on a Friday or Saturday night it would have more of a party atmosphere.

The food is nice, nothing exciting. As seems to be the case with so many 'Vietnamese' restaurants in our area it's more of a Thai/Vietnamese fusion. Still everything was fresh and tasty (particularly the salt and pepper king prawns) and the banquet was good value.

Pleasantly surprised by the service, the two very young staff who waited on us hand and foot.

Not the worst cheap Asian eatery in town, but nothing special either. Surprisingly, they make a reasonable feast of Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese.

I took my parents here for dinner recently and we enjoyed it very much. The waiter was very helpful and suggested dishes we should try. It's very clean. The bill was reasonable for the amount of food we ate. We'll be back. BYO too. This was back in May. I've since revisited with family/friends, it was a Saturday night
and we were extremely disappointed, I was embarrassed as I took friends also.

I ordered most of the same dishes as before (their specials) it wasn't good, the only dish out of our selections that was tasty we ordered another one cause the others were yuk, it took so so long (just over 30 minutes) that we said don't bother bringing it. Of course she returns with it in her hand. Nobody felt like eating it by then as we waited so long. Then when I went to pay the bill at the bar the lady hiked the bill up a couple of extra dollars onto each dish, when I queried it she made up some excuse and I said I won't be back and I'm telling everyone. The food was substandard.

This place is authentic, genuine and cosy. Staff were very attentive and meals were delivered quite quickly, given the good size crowd in attendance. The food was excellent, fresh, tasty and came in good size servings. The bill was a nice surprise too. Will be going back soon and taking a few more people with us.

Absolute disgrace. Overcharge us on every single meal. Asked what type of rice wanted with meal. We told waitress we didn't want rice. Then she said we had to have rice. After being pressured to have rice we noted that waitress charged us an extra $4 per person for something we didn't want. Would never ever recommend this joint.

We have been enjoying this restaurant for many years. Recently we had O/S visitors and did the "Steamboat" which was a fantastic thrill for the kids who had never experienced anything quite like cooking their own steamboat before. For super fresh healthy and delicious food this is a standout in todays cruise. Nothing comes close to it for value for money and fully entertaining night out for everyone.

Great authentic food, generous serves and great service and very reasonable prices. BYO is handy. Try their banquet menu its great! Will definitely be eating there again soon.

I read all the reviews and decided to book a table. Our cab did not arrive and we were half an hour late. We approached the restaurant and was a little concerned by the low profile appearance from the shop front. The restaurant is upstairs. We got half way up the stairs (it was a saturday night) and could hear that the restaurant was packed.

The inside of the restaurant is perfectly respectable and seems to have had a recent lick of paint. There was one table left and I hoped, by the popularity of the restaurant and the delicious smell of the food, that it was our table. The lady told us that they had kept the table for us even though we were half an hour late. The food was great. Do not miss the salt and pepper squid. The chicken fried rice was great and so was the tasting plate entree.

We were pleasantly surprised by the bill as well. Can't wait to go back or maybe a salt and pepper squid take away

The service is excellent, the food is very tasty, its great value for money, unpretentious and its BYO. Compared to some of the other very average Asian restaurants in Cronulla, Golden Sun is a winner. I highly recommend the claypot pork, it is delicious!
