We decided to give the Golden Kingdom a try on Friday night, It's situated on the ground floor of the Addison hotel on Anzac parade. The decor is as you would expect, bright red overhanging lamps and statues of dragons.

We ordered dims sums, which were home made and king prawn cutlets which were not. A bit disappointing. We also had the pork ribs in peking sauce which were excellent, mongolian lamb and the Shan Tung Boneless chicken $18.80 which apart from being full of bones was tasteless.

The service is good and the meal was less than $100 so overall good value. Next time I might come in during the day for Yum Cha.

Just vistied today for a simple and nice dinner. Ordered a beef with oyster sauce, smelly beef and salty. Another dish was combination seafood noodle which was ok but certainly not worth $22 for a small dish where you can in fact have much better taste and at around $12 in Chinatown.

The worst part was that they charge $2.50 for a tiny chilli with soy sauce which shows up as "Others" on your bill. You will easily overlook this if you don't carefully check the bill. Well, not surprise if you know how to deal with dodge Chinese restaurant.

Ambient? Well, looks like recently renovated with very dark tone fittings but I could smell something weird in the restaurant which make you feel obnoxious thur the whole dinner. Service? I know I can't expect too much in Chinese restaurant but for the price you pay, I find Mcdonald is even better. Definitely not going back.

This place is really hit and miss, both with food and service. The Peking duck is fantastic, the fried rice great and the hot pots are a winner, but most other dishes lately have been tasteless. It's also worth noting that the serving sizes appear to be getting smaller despite the prices being the highest in the area.

Golden Kingdom is clean, with a lovely atmosphere and is a great option for a late night feed, but it is definitely going down hill and completely inconsistent. It's a real shame, as one of the owners, Sam, gives the best service I've ever received in a Chinese restaurant! It's still worth a try (or I should say a gamble) as you might catch them on a good day.

Yum cha is a la carte i.e. no trolleys, took forever to get the food and it came in dribs and drabs. The waiters were typically rude as expected from chinese restaurants. The yum cha selection is not extensive, just the usual classics. Yum cha was tasty but nothing special. Their order and delivery method is a little wonky, we got the same dish three times and had to point this out to them each time, they would be losing money hand over fist if they do this for every customer, took forever to get the waiters attention so that we could pay the bill, ended up going to the counter ourselves.

Summary: come here for a rude yum cha experience outside of chinatown where you wait forever for the food.

The food is okay, but compared to the other restaurants in the area like Maroubra, Kingsford and Randwick, it seems to be the most expensive. Peking duck was okay, nothing special, although the atmosphere was generally good and the service ok.

We used to come here for many years and loved the food. Recently they changed ownership and they tried ripping us off by what seemed to be a trial taste of some alcohol then they charged us. They adjusted it after we complained.

We came back a few weeks later and asked about having a bday party and we wanted to bring in our own alcohol and drinks, but they wanted to charge $15 per person corkage! They have no idea on customer service, we used to be loyal to them, now would never go back based on how little they value their customers.

Now found a much nicer restaurant. At least they appear not to rip off their customers!

I have dined here a few times. The service is great, good atmosphere. The food is really nice but abit overpriced for a chinese restaurant.

Must be the best chinese ever, divine crispy duck, awesome honey prawns, staff are genuinely friendly food served quick but not rushed at all. Would recommend this to all. Have been here many times it only gets better if thats possible.

Oone of the best food I've ever had! Have been a very regular customer of this restaurant for over 10 years now, food is to die for! You're crazy if you don't try this. If you love chinese cuisine well this is the best ever! Only bad thing, no home delivery!!!!!!! lol
