Absolutely adore Gazebo for it's zany decor and zesty menu. It's the best place for meeting up with friends for a long boozy lunch, particularly if sipping a refreshing jug of Pimms.
The food is delicious, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. The service is always very friendly and the atmosphere is buzzing. The specials are great, the steak is a constant fave, as is the Girls Picnic which is a stand of dainty savoury nibbles and cheeses and sweet treats served with bubbles and minted lemonade.

I have to say the Surry Hills Gazebo is fantastic. We went there with a group of friends and yes it was packed, but what great energy and atmosphere! This is definitely not a place to have a quiet drink and dinner. I will definitley go back.

Went here for a birthday the other night and was extremely, extremely disappointed. After reading rave reviews I can say that this place is not worth the hype.
Biggest disappointment was the food, or lack of it. There was quite a large group of us, something like 15 in total. We had a set menu that was chosen on before we arrived and it was quite some time before the first starters arrived. This mainly consisted of 3 salad bowls per, what it seemed, 6 or 7 people as well as 3 small dishes of meatballs that wouldn't be enough to feed a small family, let alone a party of 15.
The mains were roast beef/lamb (couldn't remember which because it was so overcooked when it got to the table it was like trying to chew your leg off), and also a plate of roast chicken that seemed to have fallen into the same fate as the beef/lamb. These were accompanied by small jars of "watery" gravy with little to no taste.
Mind you the potato fries that were served with this were very good. Dessert was probably the best part, a chocolate macadamia tart with ice cream that was quite nice. When we came to the end of the meal and found out that we were all up for $50 a head my jaw almost hit the table but as it was my friends birthday no fuss was made of this at the time.
The one saving grace of Gazebo is its very friendly and accommodating staff and its great wine and cocktail selection (mulled maple cider, one of the best drinks I've ever had). If I wasn't, however, annoyed from the beautiful cocktails that were made for us, I probably would have left the restaurant halfway into the starters.
The music was very loud as well but I generally like that sort of thing and thought at least with the loud music and plenty of booze, the thought of how terrible and overpriced the food was, was slowly being drowned out. Go for the wine not the food.

A very good wine list and a great location. On a quiet night, you can park right outside within a 5-minute walk. The staff are very good and efficient. Food options are just right. Desserts are great too. Nice place to catch up with friends.

I had heard about Gazebo from a fabulous single gal so decided to try it for a romantic anniversary dinner for my wife and I. The first impression was the sound, or should I say volume - Gazebo is jam packed like a night club. Quickly realised that 80% of the crowd were girls out, on a girl’s night out.
Make sure you visit the toilets while you are there, the poetry at the end is well worth the journey.
Food: Very sub par. My suspicion is that my Alaskan crab left Alaska and arrived in Australia comfortably in a can. Imagine my surprise when the pasta was angel hair. Between the canned crab and my Asian noodles my dinner was now looking like a very over priced 2 minutes lunch that someone might have at work using the office microwave.
A great location for groups of 20 something girls on their night out. However if you want wine and good food there are a 100 other better value for money options in Sydney.

First time at Manly last night. Food and service great but can't believe expensive wine was brought to table in the glass and not poured out of bottle. Not good enough for business calling itself 'Wine Garden'. Hope Surry Hills is not like this.

A great selection of wine indeed! There are not many places in Sydney where you can get Grange by the half/full glass (also note it was a 97, so a bit more approachable). Worth a try, even if its just a half. We had it with their gourmet veal and chorizo sausage roles. The pinnacle of aussie winebar delights! Correct use of glassware with the wines also noted.
Our large group was well looked after by the staff, with our various share plates arriving promptly. Some great flavours, cheese, jamon, mushrooms etc. A girly ambience, we were in the rose garden area surrounded by Dianna pictures. But, you can still have a good beer and chat with your mates while the girls lap up the surroundings. Your mrs will love it!

This place has for me delivered a consistently good experience over the many years and times I have returned. I can't say the same for the sister restaurant The Winery but for me the original is still the best. Fantastic for small groups and with the many hens/ baby events groups are to be expected. On our last visit. The warm brownie is to die for. I particularly enjoyed my steak and my friends pasta was al dente.

A group of us went for Saturday lunch and the service & staff were wonderful. There was a really nice relaxed, friendly ambience and the food was terrific! Standouts were: crispy squid, alaskan crab angel hair pasta, lamb & gruyere burger & bread and butter pudding. The cocktails were impressive too. The menu here is slightly better than the Surry Hills one, but service at both have been excellent. Now to try the one in Manly!

I have been here twice now. Once for a hens party, and another to dine with a girlfriend. The girl’s picnic was excellent value and the platters were a nice assortment. The other occasion we ordered several share plates. My world was not really rocked and I did not like the salt cod croquettes at all. This might be more of a reflection of my pallet rather than the dish. Great atmosphere and staff are friendly and efficient. I will be back for vino!
