I ate lunch 2 days ago here, 2 mains, 2 beers and I (inedible - tasted like crumbed rubber) child's fish/chips cost > $100. This was a rip off. The child's fish tasted like rubber. My dish, battered fish and chips, was a small portion. The Waitress was aloof (who thought she was doing us a favor, by letting us eat there) was only interested in selling us items on the menu.
We were first in the Restaurant, and asked if we could have a window seat: No! We didn't book! We were rushed out in 35 minutes. Thanks for the relaxing lunch on my wedding anniversary, on my day off work. No, I won't be back, or recommend your restaurant to anyone I know, or don't know!
Response from Management:

We went on a friend's recommendation and Wow! Wow! Wow! We love this place! Absolutely outstanding food, great service and beautiful views. Every course is just amazing - I'm a dessert fanatic and can't get enough of the dark chocolate pecan pie! My partner and I are keen diners and eat out regularly but Garfish has become our favourite and we have now been back 4 weeks in a row. My only regret is we didn't discover this gem earlier!

Four of us had an early (6.15) booking on a busy Friday night. Young, friendly and efficient staff. Service was reasonable given the full floor. Good table with a bit of space around us. Views over Manly and Sydney Harbour.
All of us enjoyed our meals. Snapper Pie was a standout. Three different fish dishes all well prepared and presented. Portions are not huge but are reasonable. Not particularly cheap, but in comparison with the boring same, same venues along the beach front at Manly and Dee Why, a refreshing uplift in quality and professionalism. A good experience and would recommend.

Our second visit to Garfish at Manly was a slightly better experience than our first. The waitress was friendly and the service was Ok, however, we waited almost a whole hour between entree and our main, were they catching the fish?
The food is overrated for the price and nothing special. I had the salmom ravioli for my main, the pasta was too thick, it was cold and the drizzle of sauce did not add anything to the taste. Bemused to see that they now have salt and pepper on the table (on our last visit I asked for black pepper and was told quite rudely that they don't serve pepper, but would I like some Tabasco, honestly!) and I noticed that most people on our table, did add S&P to their meal, speaking for my meal, it really needed it. We won't be back.

Dinner at Garfish Manly is always a pleasant experience. I have always found the food to be fresh and tasty. The venue is beautiful however it does get a litle loud which can make for hard conversation.

Wedding anniversary to celebrate. Made a booking for 6.30pm as per policy arrived on due date only to find there was no booking! Had requested a window table none available. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant (felt like Manly Corso at times). Ordered our meal which arrived promptly enough but the oysters were very very poor and the main courses were not as good as you can get on the wharf at Brooklyn.
After some complaints to the floor manager (a most obliging chap by the way) we did manage to get a window table. This almost made up for the faults and mediocre food. A couple of glasses of free sparkling made also made us happier. However, we will not be back. The German waiter (once again a very nice person) said we were lucky to get moved to the window as the open kitchen and warm night makes the rest of the restaurant unbearably hot at times. Did I mention that it was expensive for what you get?

I dined here with my dearest friend and we were absolutely spoiled from the minute we arrived until we sadly had to leave. Everything about Garfish was special. We were treated like VIP's, which we certainly are not. The food was wonderful but it was enhanced by the attentive service of the team. Hard to fault and very hard not to go back again. We will be back.

Dinner at Garfish last night. Service was good and food not bad. Price a bit expensive for the portions. I ordered the Blue Swimmer Crab Soup, w/ Avruga Caviar & Buttered Horseradish Focaccia for starter. Flavour and taste good but expected bigger pieces of crab and a little more caviar. The Focaccia a needed a bit more toasting. Fish and Chips for main and could not fault it.
My partner had the Salt and Pepper Squid for a starter and this was lovely (I had a taste of course). He had Snapper Pie for main and for the price I thought it was totally overrated. Lots of taste, looked great when presented but once you put your fork into the pie and all the air escaped there was not much left and it was not cheap.
As for drinks, they ran out of Campari and it on the main menu as part of a refreshing cocktail. Only enough left for three drinks and we ordered four. I would have sent one of the staff out to the liquor land not far away can stocked up especially when you have four people wanting to drink cocktails. After having to change my drink to a pims (not bad) the waiter kept on wanting to take my drink away when it was still half full. Not sure if I would go back again.

Garfish isn't for me, The two times I've been there I have felt frustrated by the way they handle the no booking policy, ie I have felt it has taken longer than necessary to get seated. Last night, My dining companions enjoyed their food so I think I just got unlucky. The fish I had wasn't bad but it wasn't good. Bread and coffees an sides were good. Ambience was good. Service was reasonable. Price is ok esp as it's byo which they get a big tick for.
