Overview of Funky Pies

A small cafe, serving eat in or take away, very chunky, extremely funky, gourmet pies, all handmade fresh, on the premises.
There's the "Funky Chunky" - which is 'like' the best meat and potato pie you ever had... but better, the "No Worry Curry" with chick-peas and lentils in a coconut creamy curry sauce, Spicey Thai Pie, with Veg Protein, Mushrooms, Spinach and our special Coconut Cream/Thai Paste mix. Oh yum. Gluten Free Pies!
There's the "Rockin Roll", which is 'like the bestest sausage roll ever....oh, and the breaky roll, with sausage/baked beans mix, topped with 'bacon' bits... MMMmmm.
Swing by, grab a pie, with an organic, fairtrade coffee, VERY freshly roasted locally, served exclusively with Bonsoy, or an Organic juice.
Truly Piegasmic.

There's also some in-house 'cupcakery' going on, with cupcakes galore, freshly baked scrumptious carrot and chocolate cake, and gluten free banana
bread. Yum. Amazing Gluten Free Pies!

Oh yeah, and everything we sell is 100% vegan. We've gone all the way for the environment, with starch based plastics, and recycled fibre card for our take away packaging, Eco paint on the walls, and offsetting the energy we use to make our pies.

Wow! As a vegan my taste buds work extra hard in shaping my tongue to say 'Funky Pies'. I will be forever drawn to this place, not just for a funky name but for the wicked pies. None of my friends have been disappointed and are on the 'funky pie' train at least once a month. 50% of them are meat eaters and rate the pies as good as their meaty cousins. You won't be disappointed.

Visited for breakfast this morning and loved it. The staff are ultra friendly and the food was great. Had a Brekkie Roll (delicious) and a funky chunky pie (amazing!). The coffee and cupcakes are really good too. Am so happy to find an all vegan cafe in Sydney. Will definitely be back, soon I hope!

Just devoured a funky chunky, one of the best pies I have ever tasted, super flaky pastry filled with shiitake mushrooms, mash n gravy, all presented in a cute open box, still can't believe its not meat! scrumptious.

Great to see Funky Pies open and trading. The Funky Chunky is the best "like" meat pie! From a big meat eater I could barely tell the difference and the taste was fantastic. The No Worry Curry is also great on the flavour. Service is excellent and the layout of the place is (pardon the pun) funky especially the little corner area with disco ball, benches and cushions is very cool! Great place, great people and most important a great pie!

While Funky Pies isn't open yet they are still taking orders and also cater to functions. I dropped in a week or so ago and met one of the owners and the chef. I picked up 2 Funky Chunky pies (shiitake mushroom chunks, gravy, potato) and 2 No Worry Curry pies (chickpea, lentil, coconut curry). The Funky Chunky is like a vege version of a meat pie and the gravy gives it a great flavour, the curry pie is a little bit spicy and the flavour is spot on.

The pies have a freezer life of a few months so you can buy a few and pop 'em in the freezer and then defrost them when you're ready to eat 'em. They'll be opening soon so drop by and eat in or buy a pie to take away.
