We were unlucky enough to be dining during a birthday party for a 5 yo featuring a bevy of brats and their incredibly loud parents, but aside from the assault on our eardrums, the service was not what I would call typical Japanese, presentation was very lacking, sashimi was sliced incorrectly and was presented with the brown strip of back fat.
The beef and the chicken were presented poorly, but were tasty (probably the saving grace of this meal), the tea was $4 and tasted like the tea bag had been in use since yesterday (little different to hot water), and despite ordering two mains, we only received one serve of the side of vegetables. Couldn't wait to get out of there!
Went there last night for my duaghter's 22nd birthday. What a wonderful night! The chef was fantastic, his tricks were great fun, there was a little girl's party at the same table and she and her guests had so much fun catching eggs and fried rice that we joined in and that made our night even better.
We had the basic teppanyaki package, the food was great, the beef was melt in the mouth, the fish and prawns were perfectly cooked. Service was a bit rushed, probably because they had another sitting after us (this just shows how popular this restaurant is), but not offensively so.
All in all, an excellent place to celebrate, we will definitely be returning.
We came here last night (wed) for dinner for my mother-in-law's bday. We made a booking and lucky we did, there were other groups that booked, and seems to me, its a popular place to celebrate birthdays. The service was great, they came to you straight away and was always filling my wine glass, it was never empty. We had ordered beef tendorloin (must order) it was soft and medium, so juicy wanted to order some more, but we were full as that was the last thing cooked for us.
We also ordered teriyaki chicken, squid, prawns, scallops and spinach. The udon was nice and so was the garlic fried rice. We would come back again, but maybe when we want to splurge, you would be looking to pay around $35-$50 p/p. But it was a good experience and the chef was humorous.
I came here late last year in Dec for a birthday dinner and came here for the Teppanyaki option. The whole night was extremely entertaining and the chef very humourous!
Despite being such a small restaurant and parking being quite inconvenient, the food was great and value was slightly poor. The chef's brilliant skills and humour really made the night a lot of fun for all of us and it left a great memory! The service we received was average but once again, it was the chef that served us that really was the icing on top of the cake!
After our birthday song, the chef gave my friend who was celebrating her birthday a little gift! Unusual and unexpected! We definitely left smiling.
I just got back to what would have to have been one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I have had in a while. Whilst the food was good (Particularly the beef), the ambience here was simply dreadful.
I understood that this was a family restaurant and therefore expected that there would be some noise, but there was a large party celebrating a birthday at the teppanyaki table that was so incredibly loud that my husband (sitting 2 feet away) was unable to hear me and vice versa. I felt like I was sitting on a school bus of loud obnoxious giggling teenage girls. The dreadful happy birthday song played loudly (twice!) over the loudspeaker for good measure.
Not a place to go if you actually wish to converse with someone, although it did look like the birthday party group were having a fun time.
Food: I got the beef roll and my friend got the teppanyaki sampler. The beef roll was a little under cooked. I asked for Medium-well and it came out a little red for my liking. The meat was tender, but there were a few times I had to spit into a napkin as it was stringy.
The Teppanyaki sampler looked good, and there was way too much food for one person. A little heavy on the meat side, would have liked some more veges as the stirfried veg was only bean sprouts and a bit of carrot. The simple salad they served before the meal had too much dressing which overpowered everything.
Ambience: The families that were eating around us seemed to be having a good time. We were sat on the corner of the grill, in between two families, so felt like we were sharing our meal with other people. The chef was fun and food was thrown, mess was made but there were no tears. 2 birthdays during the night meant that they brought out the cheezy happy birthday recording played way too loudly, but fun for the kids whose birthday it was. Definitely not for the intimate diners, but more of a family friends fun affair
Service: Other than being a little pushy at the start to get our orders, it was pretty good. Very attentive.
Value: The teppanyaki sampler was $33 for the cheapest one, plenty of food and enough for 2. The beef roll was $22, and probably a bit on the expensive side as the meat wasn't top quality.
Will be suggesting this place to my work colleagues for lunches as I work in the area.
I just love this restaurant, I go here regularly with a group from work. Great service, very funny and friendly. The food is very tender and juicy, am definitely going back and would recommend.
Fantastic fun - good food and such an entertaining place for our children (12 and 15). All the staff were outstanding and our whole family had a blast.
Took my nephew, visiting from overseas, and my wife to this restaurant last evening at short notice. Was an excellent experience with great food, most pleasant chef, and overall a great restaurant, will be back no doubt...!!
