I came here with my friend for the first time after many years and was, at first, very pleased with the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant, however, the praise stops there.
While the service was polite and the waitresses were apologetic about the long wait, that didn't help to put food on our table. We ordered four things and we waited a total of 1.5 hours for all four things to come out. If they were trying to strategically pace our food to benefit our digestion, I'd say they succeeded extremely well because we were hungry again after every dish while we waited for the next dish. We didn't make a fuss like we saw other customers doing.
The servings of the food were also very small, considering the price. In comparison with other Japanese cuisine restaurants in the City area, Fujiya would be near the bottom of the list for value for money.
By the end of the night, we just wanted to get out of the restaurant as fast as we could. We were not, in the least, full or even partly satisfied.
If not for our dessert at Mother's Crepe, we would have gone home still very hungry. I wish the owners luck with improving their service and food and maybe in a few years time, I'll return with a different story to tell, but for now, sayonara.
I wouldn't recommend Fujiya if you're in a hurry or if you're extremely hungry and can't wait a good 30 minute for your first entree or flavorless lukewarm green tea.

I've been to many Japanese restaurants, but I have to say that Fujiya is the Worst. Tonight was the first time my partner and I went, only because we walked past it, looked at the menu and thought the prices were reasonable. We went in and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Mind you, this was 7:15pm on a busy Friday night. So far so good.
Once we were seated, we ordered beef tataki, salmon fried rice and grilled squid. Little did we know that we would not make our movie session showing at 9:30. Our entree of beef tataki came first. It was quite tasty and fresh. Our salmon fried rice showed up approximately 15 minutes later. Considering it was $12.80, it was shockingly small and rather bland. I'm not a great cook myself, but honestly I could have cooked a better dish with left over salmon at home.
After we had finished the fried rice, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our squid. We asked the staff about the dish and it came out immediately and what do you know? It was Cold. How could grilled squid be cold?
In the end, my partner and I spent over 2 hours at this place for 3 dishes of food. We saw many tables enquiring where their food was and even saw a table leave in frustration over the long wait.
Seriously, don't bother. Don't waste your time here coz you could get better service and better food for the same price else where. At least at a different restaurant, you'll leave feeling full and satisfied and definitely not hungry and grumpy!

Ate here with friends tonight, took 30 minutes for the first dish to come out. Subsequent dishes came out in 15 minutes intervals. Some of the food was cold, service way below par. Sashimi plate we ordered came out at the very end when we finished eating and were just about ready to leave.

This place is well past its prime. It used to be a good value, izakaya-style Japanese restaurant to go with large groups. Over the years, the restaurant's facilities have failed to be maintained, the quality of food has declined significantly and prices have gone up.
The service is poor and the menus we received were greasy and on the verge of falling apart. Go here if you like your food expensive, service slow, and your entrees for dessert.

My sister and I have not long ago had our first visit to Fujiya. I have to say that they have the Best garlic fried rice we have ever tasted, period! the serving was big too. I've never had lobster in my life and I tried their lobster mornay and it was fantastic. The teriyaki beef was not bad but could be better and the chocolate parfait was a bit strange, it had cornflakes mixed in, I dunno if that was on purpose or if they ran out of another ingredient but I wasn't too fond of it. Otherwise, it was a nice experience and I will be back for their awesome garlic rice!

Came here for dinner and was very disappointed. The servings were way too small and the food lacked any depth in flavour. The sushi were poorly rolled, I could have rolled better looking ones at home. The staff couldn't speak English which made ordering such a mission. Now I remember why I haven't been back in years.

I haven't been to Fujiya for a few years and when I got there on a friday night, it was half empty. Once I ordered the food, I then realised why I had not been back. The service, although polite, seemed poorly organised, only one person seemed to be ordering, the rest were just bringing in dishes in and out.
The food portions were pathetically small its a disgrace to the japanese who pride themselves in well presented, well portioned food. The sushi rolls were soooo tiny and we ordered so much food but was still left hungry. The owners need to seriously reconsider what they are doing if they want people to return to this establishment. Masuya and other places are much better value.

I occasionally been to Fujiya even before they made the refurbishment till now. Their menu is broad to choose and taste is usually clean and nice. However, as that restaurant is always booming and little noisy at the dinner time, it's better if you book it earlier and I have to agree that the service is horrible, that it takes several minutes to ask them a cup of water and takes almost 10 minutes to get it.
Concern about the price, it's little costly sounded when you see the menu, but when you see its serving amount, you may understand why. I do recommend this restaurant if you want taste some real Japanese food. But you can't expect the fine embience and service.

We waited 1 hour to get a table after being told that it was only going to take 20 minutes. This is unacceptable! You should not lie and deceive customers to draw them in. It took a forceful excuse me to get the attention of a waitress. We were then told at the table that our food was going to take another 30 minutes. So, at this stage, we have starved for 1.5 hrs! We didn't eathe food and walked in disgust to another restaurant.

This has got to be the worst restaurant I have ever visited. The service in particular was shocking. I could in fact say that there was negative service as the staff left us all feeling grumpy and hungry. For the below reasons, I will never ever visit Fujiya again, nor recommend anyone to go there:
We made a large group booking and upon arrival we were given a much smaller table, leaving us all crammed in together. Had to ask 5 times for water. Ordered drinks which came after the meal. Someone's food didn't come after 2 hrs, and had to leave and get maccas. Most people had to wait over 1 hour to get their food.
Our food was given to other tables. Rice which comes with the meal actually came separately after the meal. Food was cold. Staff were unresponsive and pretended not to hear us on many occasions.
I strongly advise against this restaurant especially if it is for a special occasion because they will most probably ruin your night.
