Worst service ever, food was below average and definitely not worth the price we paid for! Went with a group of 16, they gave us 1 menu between the 16 of us, and when I asked for more menu, they only gave me 1 extra menu. Around 15-20 minutes in, no waiter bothered coming up to ask if we are ready to order, so we decided to call the waiters to come, took 3 attempts of calling someone before they came to take the order.
After ordering food and drinks, we waited 40 minutes+ for the drinks to arrive? and that's only after we nagged them and demanded for our food and drinks. Also when we asked for water, the waiter refused to give us water because tap water was not free of charge, so we had to agree that we are going to pay for tap water if we wanted any. Overall, shocking service and disappointing food.
The worst service in Sydney ever. The waitresses do not listen to you and up-size your orders and play dumb when you point out their error, while charging you regardless. Very slow service, no initiative or attention. The worst service I have ever experienced in Sydney.
It would have been really yummy if any of the food was actually warm! Everything was cold, and service was terrible, had to ask 3 different people before anything got done. A real shame because it has such a nice setup, with booths and dim lighting. Wish I took these comments more seriously before I went there! Definitely will never go there again.
Fujiya has a wide variety of menu and lots of drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic), great service and very nice ambience. However, I find their price quite expensive and their portions are quite small.
I have to say they have no service at all! We waited more than half an hour just to order food, and another hour until we finally got the food! Serving was very small, very very disappointing! Even though the seating was nice, but the service and the food didn't live up to the expectation!
This restaurant is very hit or miss. I've gone several times so I obviously enjoy the food and service, however, around 1/3rd of the time the food is not prepared properly or the service becomes bad. My theory is that they have a couple of good chefs and 1 bad, and whenever we get the bad one we leave dissatisfied.
It even happens on the same day! Yesterday I ordered a Mt. Fuji Volcano and it was delicious. So I ordered another, it was all soggy and their was too little mayo and too much bbq sauce. And, unfortunately, it even happens with drinks. Chu-hais are prepared perfectly most of the time, but sometimes its far too diluted or way too strong.
We ordered the gyoza and it was burnt, also we ordered the grilled fish and it took forever! Well it was really like one hour but it was sooo long. The restaurant wasn't all that cheap either. If you ask me Fujiya wasn't fancy and all that, it was a plain japanese restaurant like all the others. If I owned it I would put some pazass into it. I mean at least put some effort into it. No wonder there were only a few people eating there.
Will not be going here again. Came along with 3 friends one late Saturday night, there weren't even many customers, we ordered very, very small dishes. Not proper meals, I'm talking about one cocktail, one sushi roll and a small plate of beef. This took 40 minutes. 40 long minutes without much assistance until I yelled out "sumimasen!" (excuse me) to a waitress. My friend was so appalled she didn't even eat her food when it arrived, as she lost her mood. They also stuffed up the cocktail by forgetting to add the colouring.
Most dishes were awlful. Let me start with the good dishes: the wagyu beef was nicely marbled. The fried camembert was good but the serving was too small. Now, the sashimi served on recycled melted ice was gross, the sashimi was too thinly slice, there is no texture, it was sliced as thinly as possible, couldn't be any thinner, almost see through! The grilled mackeral was cold.
We ordered the entree egg slices it looked nothing liked the menu, when questioned, the waitress pointed on the menu with a tiny disclosure 'food may not appear exactly the same as the menu'. I have never been to a restaurant who would have such a disclaimer, I suspect they include it because people question why their dishes look completely different than the menu!
The service was slow, it took them every half hour to bring one dish! In the end we had to leave with our stomachs still hungry!
