Come here for pub trivia every Wed night and the combination of Tim calling the questions and DJ behind the bar makes for a very pleasant evening as they're two great blokes. The grog prices are reasonable, my wife says the food is okay too.

The food here has gotten worse and worse over the last year or two; especially since the owners gave away ownership of the food to the caterers. The steaks are bad and I wouldn't feed them to my dog. Time for a big broom to go through there and a new chef to come on board.

Another couple and ourselves were looking for a good pub meal at reasonable prices on the north shore. We eliminated most pubs because they are either pub grub trying to be upmarket restaurants (with prices to match) or are full of sports fans watching their game. (not that there's anything wrong with that, we're just not in to footy).

In the end we decided on the Freeway as it seemed large enough to accommodate diners and sports fans. What a find!

For a Saturday night the pub was really quiet, I don't know why because it's a great venue and the food and service was really good. Each of the four of us had different meals and we all commented that they tasted really good.

The sports bar had some fans enjoying the Rugby and the screens around the general bar area also had footy playing but we were still able to have a conversation without having to shout over the TVs.

After our meal we relaxed on the lounges at the end of the restaurant area and had another couple of drinks. All in all a good combination of food, service and atmosphere.

    We will definitely be back.

Me and my office have been regulars at the freeway hotel for the last year or so, I have always found it to be a good place for a midweek lunch. You always get your meal quickly but from then on this place goes down hill. Yes the food is exceptionally good, some of the best pub food I've eaten in sydney, but that does not excuse the poor service. There always seems to be staff at the bar, but it always seems to take 5 minutes to usher them away from their own conversations and then they can be quite rude. The staff are all quite young and I think this is part of the problem. It really makes me wonder who is running the shop?

The Freeway is probably one of the better hotels around Sydney for food. Nevertheless it is still just a pub. I have eaten here several times and the food is always fresh, of good quality and in good man sized portions.

The view is as the name implies, out over the freeway which is quite mesmerizing in a weird peculiar way. The double glazed windows block the noise really well from the freeway making the dining experience quiet and the atmosphere is friendly.

Drinks, well its a pub, name your poison, LOL. Service, good to get it to your table but non-existent after that. The hotel is good value for the quality of the food which is a fair bit above your average pub fare.

I don't know why this place gets such bad press on eatability. The truth is that this place serves exceptional food, especially for a pub and there is no other pub in Sydney that serves such extremely beautiful desserts. Try this place for yourself and don't forget to come back here and review it. Best Salt and Pepper Squid I have ever had.

We went to this pub for dinner on the weekend for the first time, we thought we would try it out based on some very good reviews on this website.

We had a scotch fillet steak and the calamari and chips. The steak was cooked well but there was too much mushroom sauce and the salad was drowned in dressing. Maybe it was a one off, but the steak had too much fat on it. Even if it was a one off it wouldn't sway my overall rating of this pub.

Given how many ten out of tens this pub has received for food I was expecting a lot better. It is average pub food, good sized servings but nothing at all spectacular and IMHO a little overpriced.

When we got home I looked more closely at the reviewers giving high scores, interestingly the last four reviewers that gave 10/10 for food only have the one review on eatability.

Too good to be true. The Freeway has the most spectacular food I have ever seen in a local pub. I love it and am there at least once a week. The service is always adequate and the food second to none. I'm surprised that this place isn't busier than it is, but that's my gain I guess. How could anyone fault the food in this place? I've had the lamb shanks and they're some of the best I've eaten. I'd fully recommend this place to anyone who wants top food at a top place. Their flour less choc cake is delicious btw ;)

This place is better now than ever. I have been going to the freeway for a few years now and I have to say the new owners of the Bistro are unreal. I am at the Freeway at least once a fortnight, its my local, and I find that I can't walk past the desserts display without taking a peek at what's new.

I'm loving the new bands that are playing on Friday and Saturday nights, they really liven up the place and make my boyfriend wanna "boogie oogie oogie".
It has to be said that I don't care for much of what is happening on the bar side of the place, but I seem to always have to go over there to get a drink as there is no one manning the bar on the restaurant side.

Before the new owners took over I always used to order a steak, and I thought they were good. The new chefs are sensational. There has not been one thing I have disliked and I have ordered half of the menu. The salmon is great, the steaks are even better than before, the nachos is beautiful, but my absolute favourite is the garlic prawns.

The thing that puts this fabulous place over the top is the dessert. This is the first bistro that I have been to that serves Creme Brulee, yum, and the first bistro that I have been to that decorates plates like you have paid big $$$$, when it actually is very reasonable. I could rave on and on about this place but my final word is going to be "yum".
