I love this place for it's simple italian approach. The bread is worth the visit alone.
Fabio is a stand out on the floor, always so friendly and accommodating. The wine list has a good solid italian collection.
My partner and I walked past late on a Friday night (about 11 pm) trying to find a bite to eat. The wait staff very thoughtfully allowed us last orders. We were having problems concentrating on the very long, complicated menu in Italian so ordered antipasto and calamari and a couple of glasses of wine.
Food was ok, not great. Service was attentive. I'm old fashioned and really would have liked a menu to mull over.
Mmm this place is over rated. The portions are so small and so expensive! The calamari for entree is nothing to fuss over. Too chewy and I don't understand why they served it with balsamic and rocket instead of just fresh lemon? Anyway, I had to send back my risotto because it was very undercooked. I know my risotto and I prefer my food to be al dente but this was just crunchy and not very nice at all.
The other two mains were okay. Nothing special but the gnocchi with salami, baby spinach and chili was amazing, but the portion was way too small! Charming waiters but they don't speak english and take so long to go through the menu (annoying). There was nothing very exciting on the dessert menu so I just got an affogato, which was lovely. All and all, boringgggggg.
Okay, so I read the reviews here before I went. But I didn't want to believe that this place was overpriced and the portions were tiny. Well, clearly people who use this site don't lie. Sure, the place looks lovely and the staff are charming, but they had no vegetarian options (so they made me some basic pasta with cherry tomatoes - tiny serving, for the bargain price of $25). My friend had a meal that was well, okay. It was a pasta dish and again, so small and really, nothing to phone home about. Don't make the same mistake I did, there are too many great restaurants in Sydney.
$12.90 for a poached egg on toast sprinkled with chopped basil? This place is laughable. The threat of rain meant I arrived with a small, dry, folded umbrella which was whipped away from me by a waiter and put outside. Ten minutes after we were seated, all the tables in the row had to be shuffled to make room for a pram the size of a Hummer. Needless to say, the pram's occupant had its own seat as well. Noisy, unfriendly and pretentious.

Dined here in a group of 7 - all with mixed feelings about this place. Personally I didn't mind it with a buzzy & modern Euro ambience, tasty food, small but specialised choice, professional service & most importantly not being rushed to dine and leave. On the downside the servings were small, the price a little on the high side while the wait staff themselves seemed rushed.
All in all, I will return - maybe next time to sample their breakfast. I don't think Lil Neecy shared my enthusiasm as she did complain about the pasta she had for entree although I noticed a twinkle in her eye when the white choc mousse was placed in front of her. Loosy on the other hand was happy just to be out of the house, the weeds were still digesting lunch while Auntie Festa took great pride in showing off her muscles - (not bad for a 59 years old, I overheard Shultzy whisper). You go to this place to enjoy the atmosphere - still full at 10.30pm on a monday night - says it all. Didoo would love it too.
We had a lovely meal - the pasta is homemade and really delicious. The wine menu was extensive and we had a lovely Italian red. We also had two salads which were simple but fresh and excellent quality. Agree that the portion sizes are small - my partner was left to fill up on bread after finishing his pasta in just a few mouthfuls. We will be back for sure though.
Came for dinner around 6.30 pm on a weekday, the restaurant side was already full (no booking service), moved to the cafe side which was more quiet (in the beginning). Calamari is always great as entree. Waiters are helpful and explained everything on the blackboard to us. Good selection of wines. Most main dishes are very 'no frill' (doesn't come with vegies). Serve is small but very tasty. No sure whether we will be back for dinner, may be for afternoon tea next time.
Take this place for what it is, a great inner city bistro. I love that the menus are in Italian, it means the waiters spend some time with you talking you through it and you just pick the one that sounds the best, rather than spending ages pouring over a menu trying to decide what reads the best.
They are always busy and yes, sometimes the wait is long, but you shouldn't come to this place unless you're ready for a nice relaxed meal. They always remember us, and what we have. This has to be my favourite restaurant to go to every week, in fact I think I could eat here everyday!
