My husband and I dined here after buying a deal online and that I had seen the restaurant in the SMH good food guide.
The meal started with a delicious amuse bouche which was complimentary. For entree I had crispy chicken wings with scallop whilst the hubby had rabbit terrine. Both were just delicious and were wonderfully presented. Both my husband and I could not pass on the venison with a side of creamy mash. As a regular eater of venison, I thought that it was perfectly cooked. The mash was one of the creamiest mashes I have ever eaten.
For dessert we had a cheese plate with the roquefort being a stand out. The service was attentive without being intrusive and very professional.
I will be returning to try the degustation menu which is a bargain with 6 courses at $85. Would recommend this to anyone, especially friends and couples.

I'm a dessert person and they have heavenly desserts! So double plus! The place has a chic entrance and inside it is still very warm and sustains its character. I'm really confused by the random swan thing though. Anyway, its a nice place. Though a bit too quiet, I could hear conversations of the table next to us, even though they weren't that close.
I don't remember the names of the dishes I ordered but it is always changing anyway. Some sort of scallop, chicken wing thing and my friend had a canneloni thing for entrees. Presented perfectly, every plate was. Every dish was a fusion of flavours, really exciting really.
Mains had a mullaway with some green sweet puree and my friend ordered a veal sirloin with mushroom puree. 23 for an entree, 37 for a main and 16 dessert. 7 for a juice. It has some rich clientele, but for a special occasion, its a nice place to dress up to visit.

The food is exceptional and well presented.
3 of us had different entrees and mains. We were all satisfied and more than thrilled with our selections. The portions are not big, but we were full after two courses at the same time enjoying the quality of fine dining.
Entrees
Venison Tongue – this is a must try. I still cannot forget the juicy tastes when it’s melted in mouth
Ceviche of snapper – well flavoured and tasty
Chicken wing – Did not get to try this one, but it’s a lovely boneless chicken wing presented like one small piece of white fish.
Mains
Venison Legs – tender and quite a portion compare to the other mains
Braised brisket and Sirloin – the person who had it described it as crunchy outside and tender inside
Baked gurnard – very fishy taste. Unlike the other ordinary fish dishes you usually have here and there
Sides
Had all three. I would highly recommend the potato puree. It’s creamy and smooth.
Wine
Not a long list for wine by glass. However, these must be carefully selected and we all enjoyed our choices.
This is a cosy and intimate restaurant. Unlike many giant operations you would have to speak loudly and listen carefully during the dining experience.
With attentive service provided, romantic ambience and extraordinary food, what else to expect? Will certainly be back for the degustation.

We had the degustation menu. The food was amazing. The service was great. Not noisy like other restaurants. Great ambience. Definitely value for money. Perfect venue for our celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary.

We went to Foveaux with a group-buying voucher ($60, 2 courses for 2 people). The staff provided great service and the food was excellent. The dishes have interesting combinations of flavours and textures. Most of them are unusual but they generally turn out very well. I highly recommend the food, although without a voucher the prices I think the prices are quite high.

We visited Foveaux Restaurant in Surry Hills with the $60 (2 entrées and 2 main courses) discounted voucher (can’t resist a bargain). We arrived early to have a drink at The Red Door bar downstairs.
The entrée with smoked duck and confit spring roll gave us 2 interesting texture and was our favourite dish of the night. The brisket main course was slightly dry but the sirloin on the side was perfectly cooked and well complimented by the subtle wasabi cream.
A good experience with discounted voucher pretty much guarantee us coming back for the tasting menu later this year.

Great food and great wine for Valentines day 2012 dinner. Decor is brilliant as long as you don't get the table with the fire hose reel overhanging. Main comment is that there was no sommelier and when having a degustation with accompanying wines I would have expected an expert pouring at the right moments when food was being served and not by the lovely waitresses when they got a moments break. I'll go back again and give it another go soon!

I came here for dinner with my partner to celebrate his birthday. The service was top notch: waiters were prompt, courteous and informative. The choice of ingredients was fresh and also brought out the flavours of each dish. I particularly liked the oysters (with cabernet sauvignon vinegar pearls and eschallot: it had a lovely tangy taste to it) and (funnily enough) the butter that was served along with the bread while we were waiting for the food (it was extremely soft and had great texture).
I would definitely recommend the Smoked duck for entrée (Smoked duck, confit duck spring roll, tamarind puree, charcoal oil, orange and watercress salad). The duck was cooked to perfection with a lovely crispy skin and was paired with a nice tangy sauce.
I thought that the menu was slightly above average but overall I enjoyed my time here and will come back if the occasion arises.

I was totally impressed by their minimalist decorating style and love the ambience there too, pretty simple yet so elegant. The place wasn't as big as I have expected but the dining room was so cozy with the lighting that was pleasantly calming and be a nice contrast against the rustic bricks wall behind it.
The food was unbelievably good and creative. If you are looking for the great dine out which not going to damage your wallet. Please give this Foveaux a go.

I joined a party of four here for dinner last Thursday night for a friends birthday and we decided on the tasting menu. The food was brilliant the flavour combinations delivered a party in your mouth with each course and although small by the time we finished all courses we were all very full. One friend selected the vegetarian tasting menu and even that was amazing and full of great flavoursome dishes. The room was very comfortable, had lots of atmosphere without loud music blaring and being carpeted did not echo so we could all talk and hear each other without shouting which is rare it seems. The ladies serving us announced each of the courses and were very helpful, attentive without being all over you. Bonus was we all thought it was really good value for the food quality, presentation and choices offered. All up a brilliant night out enjoyed by all of us... keep up the great work!
