3rd Visit: Third chance, food came out quickly but was no where near as nice as the 1st and second time. Quite disappointing. The entire place is lacking. Won't be going back.
2nd Visit: Waited 1 hr and 20 minutes for our food at lunch time. Pretty annoying.
1st Visit: Booked lunch here today for our office. Food was nice and came out quickly. The Chef did forgot to cook one meal but personally brought this out himself with a complimentary dessert as an apology. Very, very impressive! Great gesture!
4 of us ate the Spicy Chicken Buritto, couldn't stop eating it well after I was full! Compliments to the Chef all round!
Went here the other night for dinner, and the food was very average. Have been here before, and it previously served up ok pub meals.
We had the bangers and mash and the margherita pizza. Two weeks later it’s still not entirely clear how a pub can stuff up a staple like bangers and mash... In hindsight ordering the “margherita pizza” was being a little optimistic. It came as slices of largely unripened, flavourless tomato, covered with cheese.
Overall, I was no where near drunk enough to enjoy the meal.
The food is cheap and the staff are friendly, however this place is way too busy for my liking. I know it's busy for a reason but I'm not one for standing in lines for half an hour to order food and then having to stand on the periphery like an eagle, ready to swoop onto a table when someone leaves. The problem with this pub is also that cheap food is not always the best and people quite often get conned into thinking that a $5 steak is going to be a full meal. It's not here. It's simply a steak. That's all. Usually with a tiny bit of lumpy mash underneath it. Not exactly a proper meal.
Went there the other night with my family as I had great meals in the past. Unfortunately, the management has/is changed! All the good food is no longer there, just a small miserable bar menu. They claimed they had this temporary menu to get rid of the old stuff. Nice way to inform your customers! No need to say that I refused to eat there and went elsewhere instead. I'll have a look again once they get their act together.
Just about every time I have eaten here (and it's a lot as I literally live opposite) there have been problems with my food. Often it's been so overcooked that it's inedible, other times they "forget" my order. I also have a problem with the false advertising there. They advertise that they have $5 cocktails bewteen 5.30-7.30, but often if it's busy, they change their mind and refuse to serve cocktails at the advertised rates.
I just went up there tonight as the staff had told me, it was the last night they would be doing the $5 steak and they were going to finish it off with a bang. More like a whimper, they claimed to have run out of steaks at 11am, in spite of having a licence that only allows them to start trading at midday! They do not look after their regular patrons in any way, shape or form and I will never be going back there or taking friends or clients. In fact I will recommend to everyone to stay away and spend your money elsewhere where there is better food, service and just care in general to their clientele. They display no loyalty to their regular patrons.
I think Forresters try to keep their prices low ($15) and as a result the food is not as good as it could be and the servings quite small. They don't have a very good selection for vegetarians either. But it's pretty cheap.
Too good i reckon!! Staff and meal were superb even under a busy friday lunch stress. Beer poured with perfection and try the blushing duck rose by littledale estates (to die for).
