Ended up at The Star after some dragon boating. Had the classic fish and chips, a bit expensive but surprisingly good. I have had similar or better at fish and chips by the beach. e.g. Brighton Le Sands or Cronulla

Had the classic fish and chips today at lunch time, was expecting a little bit more as it's flying fish and it's $14.90.

I asked the lady for aioli instead of tartare and she said it will be served, nope, didn't get it. The tartare was awful. The fish, it was soft but not because it was fresh, it was more like old fish that is starting to breakdown.

Chips, wasn't hot, was only warm. It was so dark that you could tell it's been fried a few times. I know it's at The Star and I know you do pay quite a bit of rent or sth to be there, but hey, don't damage your reputation by serving food like that.

No next time.

This is in a food court so ambience hard to rate. Food, we found an elastic band in our greek salad and when returned told 'only a food band off the salad bag'. Well, sorry but if you swallow that it could do damage.

We ordered basic fish flat head fillets. Chips so salty that had to hit them on the side of the bowl. My local fish on fry in Glebe so much tastier and half the price. Do not eat at Flying Fish and Chips.

My faith in customer service has been restored. After emailing the company direct with the complaint we promptly received a call from the owner, who assured us that he will address the issues and keep us posted. This sort of responsiveness is exceptional and does make up for what was an unpleasant experience. I've reviewed the ratings accordingly.

The problem here wasn't the food, the friendly staff serving us or the prices. It was the senior staffs lack of professionalism and ability to handle the simplest of complaints. Customer is not always right but we do not deserve to be accused of trying to get a freeby every time a complaint is made. An inconsistency in the menu caused a toddler to eat chips containing chili salt.

When the senior staff was alerted to the confusion we were accused of trying to get a free bowl of chips and a refusal to admit that there may have been a problem with the menu. We didn't want anything accept an attempt to understand the problem and a promise to look into it. I don't care how good the service, prices or food are, this unprofessional manner is enough to render this business not worth visiting. Visited on the evening of 28th December 2011."
