Overview of Flying Fajita Sistas
Flying Fajita Sistas provides diners with an authentic Mexican dining experience using a diverse range of ingredients. From Sopes and Huaraches to Tamales and Chimichangas, diners won't be disappointed. Check out the intimate courtyard for alfresco dining or the upstairs space for groups.
The restaurant is fully licenced and stocks a large range of Mexican beers and fine Tequilas. BYO wine is allowed or choose from the selection of boutique wines.
Taco Tuesdays are already proving popular with $3 tacos and $3 tequila shots.
Bookings are essential on Weekends and Tuesdays.
I've eaten here a dozen times in the last year, yet to experience anything but food-bliss. I nearly always get the same meal (trio of dips followed by fajitas and a cocktail or sangria) but why mess with success? Servings are generous and while not 'cheap' it's good value. Can be busy at times, so book in advance and if you want to relax over your meal, take the 8 pm sitting.
I came here for $3 tacos on a Tuesday night before heading to a movie. I got three tacos and was very disappointed. While I wasn't expecting a lot for $3 I still thought it would be semi decent. But there was very little filling and no salad in the taco, just a small serving on the side. We ordered jalapenos on the side to eat with the tacos to give it a bit more taste. We didn't try any of the other dishes.
Service - appalling. Couldn't raise a smile from our waitress let alone any kind of enthusiasm for the menu. Trip of drips were watery and fairly tasteless. Fried potato balls were actually okay but they forgot them, brought our mains out and then asked if we minded if they left them on our table while they went back and got our forgotten entree. Hello? Also forgot our drinks order, and gave us the wrong bill at the end of the night. Our mains were actually okay, although the fajita serves are very small. Sangria (red) was very ordinary. Would not recommend this place. Don't know how it gets good reviews.
Mexican is arguably one of the easier food choices if you're feeding a large group of people. Having said that, those people in our group that ordered the banquet were served at about the same time as those who chose a dish.
Apart from the other possibly negative things such as being given a time slot, and promptly given the bill as the plates were cleared, beware of GST not inclusive in the quoted menu prices. By the time we got our bill we had to fork out the "extra 10%", which, don't be fooled, makes a difference!
Ate here with a large group yesterday evening for a b’day event. There was both a time and seating constraint placed on my friend’s reservation. We had to be in and out within 2 hours (arrival no later than 6 pm) and suck up a squishy seating arrangement for no more than 18 pple.
There was no room what so ever for an additional person, so my friend uninvited one of his guests. Given the history of reviews, I wasn’t expecting anything amazing. Nice service and food quite average. I had the Vegetarian Fajitas which consisted of crispy grilled vegies (zucchini, sweet potato, onion, carrot, pumpkin?) and accompanying toppings for you to wrap up with your fajitas. Overall experience was pleasant but nothing amazing that truly would entice a second visit.
Tuesday 6th June, I have been to Flying Fajita sisters on a number of occasions and each time the food has been fantastic. I often have visitors from interstate and have not had one complaint, in fact it's been the opposite. The banquets are really good value and there is good variety if you have a few people who haven't been before.
I highly recommend the corn chips and dips, the dips are just amazing! Service on a Saturday night was professional and I didn't find it hard at all to get attention. There was always someone checking whether we needed anything and with dips to share before our mains we didn't have to wait long for food at all. All in all it was a great night out.
29th July - I have decided to update this review just to comment that the other day I had the Prawn Fajita and it was terrible. The Corn tortilla's fell apart in my hands and tasted like cardboard. Not a good experience. Next time I'll be sticking to the enchiladas.
I have been to this place more than a few times, always had a great experience. Just copped such attitude on the phone when trying to book I told him to forget it. It was all about 'fitting in with them'. When they start with the 'sittings' regime I'm outta there, 6 pm or 8.30 pm? No thanks. Last time I went the lovely lady (owner?) that is usually covering front of house was noticeably absent and an arrogant waiter on a power trip was in charge. Suspect that is who I got on the phone yesterday too. Shame, I've always liked this place but I won't go back so long as he's at the front door!
I love this place. The food is delicious and the staff are so sweet and helpful. It is very busy, so make a booking. The portions are big, tasty and filling. I will definitely be back soon.
Went here last night with my family, was great overall! Would definitely come back!
great atmosphere and great value - about $35 /head and we were all stuffed!
Highlight were the margaritas and the quesadillas! Had the special zucchini flower quesadillas and the pork quesadillas and they were both amazing!
Started with dips to share which were ok. Biggest disappointment were the prawn fajitas. Loads of food but just really dry and the tortillas were really thick and dry.
Overall though would go back, even if just for those delicious margaritas and quesadillas!
