This is the best value for money Thai restaurant in Newtown. The servings are big and the quality of the food is fantastic. The Tom Yum soup is delicious, the seafood fried rice and curries are good choices. There is a section in their menu "creating your own noodles combination" stay clear from it as the outcome is quite ordinary. The staff is quite friendly, is BYO. Who to bring, your loud down to earth friend 4-6 tops as the place is small and could get quite loud.
My favourite Newtown Thai! They have quick service, big servings, and great value especially during lunch special...only $6.50! The food is really flavoursome and fresh! We go here at least twice a week and regularly order the pad kee mao, and massamun curry.
Best selling point about this place is the value. Lunch specials are the best around. Portions are decent sized servings and the tasty dishes served up are up to par. Tried the Thai beef salad and beed red curry. Both well beyond expectations, given the price we paid.
You will find plenty of university students gathered within this establishment; clearly a sign of value on offer. The service is also pretty good, smiling and friendly. What more can you ask for? This is a good find for Thai food, in the Thai-saturated street of king st in Newtown. Worth a try.
Love this place, discovered in a few years ago. Food is fresh and authentic and also very friendly & fast service. Larges servings and good value for money.
This is our new favourite Thai place on King Street. The food is always very good and fresh. Agree with a previous post, the flavours are very close to food you get in Thailand. Good value for money too, the servings are huge, even when paying just $6.50 during lunch hours! The service is always very friendly and helpful. Keep it up!
The Friendly Smile and greeting when I entered the restaurant made me feel right at home, similar to when I was holidaying in Bangkok not long ago.
Not expecting a lot I was pleasantly surprised. I have found many Thai restaurants compromise the trueness with substituted ingredients and mixed flavours, not here.
The meals were large servings and flavours were the closest I have tasted to the true Thai food I had in Bangkok. Meals are presented well and quickly.
The place gets busy at lunch and starts to fill reasonably quickly about 12:30/1pm.. Lunch meals start from $4.50 and they are very good size serves.
We had 3x Lunch meals and 1 Mixed Seafood Noodle meal.. all up cost was $22.40.. Fantastic Value.
The food was decent but nothing special to cry out about. The red duck curry was good but the duck was clearly past it's best. The ambience is noisy and cramped, but true to life. It's a truly Thai restaurant filled with life and chatter, and eventually you tune out the noise and it barely registers. Anyone who has eaten Yum Cha in Chinatown knows what I'm talking about! The service was attentive and not intrusive, and the staff always friendly. In the end, however, I wouldn't reccomend it. There are simply far too many great Thai places in Newtown that outclass Thaitanic in most aspects. Indeed, the most attractive reason for dining here is ability to say to friends and family - "I ate at Thaitanic last night."
Excellent grub, good service and fine prices. Rather noisy and cramped. We were sat between two other couples, you are almost sitting on top of each other. But overall would recommend and will return !
The staff in Thaitanic never fails to impress me with their service quality. The food is very well prepared in a fairly short time as well. I'm totally happy with the price and the value of the food here. You might want to drop by this place the next time you are around Newtown.
