Seafood was beautiful and fresh and cooked to perfection. There is a good variety of dishes on the menu that suits everyone. Friendly service and great value for money, hard to beat!

Balgowlah fish cafe (although more of a restaurant) is a lovely little secret, tucked away in balgowlah. The staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to recommending a meal (as I don't eat fish all that often). As it was quite a chilly night so I had the chowder which came with plenty of fresh seafood for my main meal which is a fantastic dish for winter.

The poached pear for dessert was a warm touch and was a lovely end to the night. Was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be coming back!

Big white plates, not enough on them. No accompaniments. Even good bread and butter would help. Not good value for money. Potential there, sad.

We found that while there was plenty of wait staff to well cover the number of diners we were left waiting to order our first drink and then our order for food. The staff would walk past and glance at the empty plates in front of us and then keep going.

I was really looking forward to having scallops on crackling, but when it came out the 'crackling' was actually just a thinly sliced piece of pork that had been deep fried!

All-in-all it was a nice meal, but left feeling a bit dissatisfied.

Gave this place another go recently and am pleased to report the service has improved considerably and the food was good. Prices still quite steep (2 small fillets of whiting 38 bucks but it was very tasty).

Have been here once to eat and had takeaway once. When we went there I tried to order dinner off the blackboard menu only to be told that it is a lunch menu only, was then given the dinner menu (after having been seated for 15 minutes) which is close to double the price for essentially the same thing.

Food was Ok but service very slow. And no atmosphere, was freezing inside on a cold night (can imagine it might be nice in the summer though). Then had take away on another occasion, fish and chips. 1st piece of fish I would say was the best takeaway battered fish I have ever had, the 2nd tasted awful, had a funny smell too. Go figure! Think I will need a long break and then maybe give it another go, potential is there but...

My family and I have dined here a few times. You will not find a better Fish and Chips in Sydney! So fresh and cooked perfectly. The chips are crispy and the home made tartare sauce is to die for! Lovely atmosphere. Recommended as a casual relaxed place to dine where you can get quality seafood at a reasonable price. The open area is great for kids and the staff are extremely friendly.

Food, one of the best I ever had. Service very good, price of the food best value in all over Sydney. Good for kids they can play out side. After all seafood is very fresh. This will be my weekly dine in place.

Had some friends up from Melbourne, booked a table for the three of us, and I have to say I had only been to the Fish Cafe once in its early days, great food then but now it has only become better, before we were in the rest.

We were walking on the plaza level and we could smell warm rich flavours coming out the door, we sat inside and were looked after by staff very well, had entrees mains and tried the brulee which was the best I have ever eaten, well done guys your service food and choice of music was faultless, I will become a regular on your cafe! ps my wife does not eat fish, she had the confit duck and was blown away. 10/10 regards Andrew.

Seriously, over rated, too expensive for a family, slow slow slow, food was okay, but no real Wow factor, and so cold inside, forget outside its like a wind tunnel, never again. Nothing to look at but bricks.
