Have eaten there regularly over last 3 years but have found last 6 months quality of food not on par with previous visits. Ate last sunday waitress made up table dopped serviette on floor then put it back on table in front of me, couldn't believe I had to ask her to replace it. The guys have a good business let down by bad staff and inconsistent food. Coffee is great!

We had a dreadful lunch. The service was disappointing. There were fruit flies constantly buzzing around our heads, although we were sitting in the midst of the cafe. My mushroom risotto was drowning in oil and made me feel ill after a few bites. My boyfriend's scallop risotto had the roe left on the scallops which is just lazy.

We had to ask twice for the bill. Our finished plates and coffee cups were not collected although the staff walked by our table many times. Very strange considering the great review this cafe received in the 2008 Good Food Guide. Don’t go there!

Had breakfast here recently and really enjoyed it. Service was prompt and attentive and we were seated within minutes of arriving even though it was a full house.

The food and drinks were fresh and tasty and not oily in any way. First drop also offers great value for money. It's a great cafe which has a real nice buzz to it. Definitely worth checking out!

This is a lovely locals place on Baptist St. I know some have complained about the service here but I haven't had this problem at all. I have been here a couple of times with friends; sometimes with a small group and the last time with a big group of 9 of us.

The service has always been great and accommodating. I really love their brushetta's; they are different to the usual types you would get. Their poached eggs are always soft and when I wanted just a small dessert (one pancake instead of their usual stack) they were happy to accommodate. Their juices are really good as well. It is a little more pricey than other establishments but shouldn't be missed.

Went for a brunch, after getting such good reviews from a couple of friends. I was a little disappointed with the eggs benedict I ordered. I prefer my poached eggs to have a runny yolk, rather than completely cooked. The smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce were as expected. Had banana bread on the side, which was quite nice. Overall my meal experience was average. The coffee was ok. Price is about the same as all other cafes in the area.

Best thing about this place is the ambience. It's situated on Baptist St, away from the busy section of Surry Hills, making it easy to find parking. Beware of weekends, as seating can be a little scarce, due to its popularity.

As a local I have been here at least 20 times and had most things on the menu. The staff are lovely and the food is great, portions are large. the prawn risotto is delicious. I have noticed that when it's very busy on weekends the service can slow down a little. Maybe it's because it made it to the good food guide 08 so the crowds have started to come in

We love this place for a weekend brunch session! The coffee is fantastic and love the bacon and egg roll! We go to First drop every weekend and yes it is busy but we have never waited for our food and we have found the service to be friendly. I would recommend going here to anyone. The food is tasty, good portions for great value. What more could you want??

I have just recently moved to east redfern and I have to agree with some of the comments that these other people have written but not all of it. I have to agree that the service is pretty bad and there are no smiles and you don't feel the warmth of the place, but in saying that I have to say that my husband and I were very impressed with the food. I mean its not the fanciest but my god I wish I could serve up food the way they do. Maybe we were lucky on that day.

I have been to many cafes and I assure you that I have waited longer for my food. People seem to be in such a rush these days they think everything is fastfood outlets. The coffee is great but the need to do better in their service skills.

Being a local of about 9 months now I decided to finally check this place out as I walk past it everyday to and from work and it always seems to be busy. Well, I was very disappointed. Firstly, the staff were not friendly AT ALL, no smiles or warmth. I was with a group, not large, 4 of us and our food took 50 minutes to arrive!!! We were in no rush and chatted happily but it started to get abit silly when no staffers even bothered to make sure we were ok or offered us more drinks or even re-assure us of our meals arriving soon.

Anyway I jokingly said to my friend that the food better be worth the wait. Well it wasn't. It wasn't even hot, it was bordering on luke warm like, it had been sitting in the open for 20 minutes and there was nothing special about it (we were there for breakfast). They do make pretty good coffee's and tea's and the cafe itself has nice decor, but the food and the staff are hopeless.

Yesterday was the first and last time I have been to this cafe. It took forever for the many staff (there were at least 7 waiting staff) to take our order, but in fairness we were still waiting for one more member of our party but it would have been nice to be offered drinks.

So we ordered after half an hour. 40 minutes later we still had no food or offer of apology for the delay or even any acknowledgement at all by ANY of the staff. So we stopped one waiter and asked how longer it would be. He told us it shouldn't be long. 20 minutes later (an hour since ordering) he came back to us and informed the 3 of us who had ordered Haloumi that there was no Haloumi left. The fact that it took them an hour to inform us that our choice was not available was just ridiculous. At this point half of our party got up and walked out.

I called my friends who stayed to eat as they were nearly eating their own arm after the painful wait. The food that they waited so long and agonisingly for was cold, every dish. And when you're paying over the odds for a light breakfast, this is just not acceptable. If you are a diner who loves their customer service, and actually expects to be fed within the hour, I recommend you avoid this place.
