The best coffee and service in Sydney. The boys out the front and the girls in the kitchen make the perfect combo of coffee and brekky.

Great food. Highly recommend the warm chicken salad with haloumi, also the riccotta breakfast is delicious. Consistently excellent service. One of our favourite Sunday cafes.

The food and service was great, but the coffee was terrible. I felt I was drinking a cup of McCafe coffee. It was milky and it had no substance to it. Everything else was spot on and I will be back for the food!

We come here all the time, its one of our favourite breakfast places. We often bring along an extra couple of people to show it off, too, and they're always equally happy.
My favourite dish is the corn fritters, I love the poached eggs, and I recently tried the pumpkin and sage pasta which I also loved. In fact, everything I've tried I've been quite happy with. If there was one thing I'd change, I'd ask for bigger glasses for water, since you have to get up and refill the glass yourself it would be nice to not have to do it so often.
The service is great, especially the young girl (Mary?) who is always so friendly and always remembers us. A breakfast for two usually comes to about $40 which I think is pretty fair for the area.

I've lived in alexandria, for about four years, being a creature of habit I jumped on this site to see what other cafes in the area offering a good breakfast lunch. (there are many if you include surry hills as well in the area). I visit the drop, as my friends and I know it, pretty often and didn't realize the amount of write ups it had. I must say although they have a huge menu, I almost always order the French toast or poached eggs and a coffee, I've never been disappointed, even though I've seen different chefs in the kitchen at times, some floor staff have been there for a while, and are always quite friendly and quick.
In saying that I've been there somtimes and they could do with more staff, as it' does get real busy, but overall I still enjoy going there, and getting good service, great food, and overall good value.

Had breakfast here today. Good points: lovely location, nice leafy corner in redfern.
Bad points: corn fritters doughy and taste acidic due to being cooked in copius amounts of cheap oil, store bought hash browns, loud and disappointing house music, busy but unfocused floor-staff, gormless senior staff and barista and the head of kitchen (kitchen staff isn't really appropriate) rang his bell 6 times for each meal pick up, quite loud and very annoying.
All in all, substandard. By the sound of some of the good reviews I would guess that this place runs ok during the week when its probably quieter, but today was just not worth taking another chance on. Try harder guys!

Even though I have moved out of the area my partner and I still make the trip down to see the gang at the first drop most weekends as the food and the coffee are worth the trip.
In the past few months they have got a new chef and the food is back where it used to be. The coffee is probably one of the best drops in town. So perfect for starting the day.
As for the staff they are friendly but also not false and in your face like other places as I do like staff to come to me when I want them not every two minutes.
And the thing I love the most is if I want my meal altered to the menu they do it with a smile. I have never been told I will check with the chef or no. This goes a long way with me and love that I get what I want when I order it.

Reading the reviews makes me think I'm not talking about the same restaurant! I have been here several times and all experiences have put a smile on my face. The service is exceptional the staff recognise me and appreciate each visit.
Service is fast and professional and food is delish. Visited this gorgeous cafe last Sunday morning for some breakie with my hubby, what a beautiful day to start the morning. The cafe was busy but the attentive waiter found a table for us outside, we sat and enjoyed our morning coffee viewing the lush surroundings and enjoying the warmth of the sun rays.
I had Eggs Benedict which was delicious, we ordered the summer freshly squeezed juice, so refreshing. Visiting this restaurant is such a treat I certainly will be going back and bringing friends.

Avoid Avoid Avoid! Ventured in here out of hunger as Mint was too full and boy do I wish I'd just waited for a table at Mint. Staff were friendly and accommodating, but what a disaster the food is. Mushrooms came out stone cold, I highly doubt they had even touched the pan and the scrambled eggs were solid. Sent the meal back and service was gracious but a few moments later my plate returned with more mushrooms now lukewarm.
Ate the meal merely because hunger levels were dangerously low. Bf ordered a side of sausage with his breakfast, $3 for one sausage and $3 for one warmed up coles hash brown. The only redeeming feature of this fiasco was the coffee which I highly reccommend. The final insult was the bill, $40 for two completely cold, substandard, disgusting breakfasts. Never again.
