Overview
This absolute waterfront tapas wine bar has seen many a corporate deal done by day and many a romantic interlude by night. The location is world class, literally metres from the cruisers moored on the Pier Seven marina, with a generous slice of the Harbour bridge as backdrop. Tasty tapas tempts as does a smart eclectic wine list with 22 offerings by the glass. With 45 seats this venue is guaranteed to be cosy and the polished, friendly service adds to Firefly's warm welcome.
Pre-theatre dinner with Neecy, Pump and the Palace on saturday evening. Loved the location, the buzzy atmosphere and the excellent service. We had some tasty dishes, however, some were a little skimpy as was the beetroot salad where you had to dig your way thru the greens to find one, this is disappointing if you like beetroot. C'mon guys provide a touch more value as you have everything going for you with this place.
We went to Firefly and had a very enjoyable night. The food was simple, very tasty and the right size to make it good value for a tapas place. The staff were very friendly and confirmed whether you were theatre goers (not us that night) or not to manage the flow of food. Very important for the location. The wine list offers a good variety. I was there with a friend for a relaxing chat. Great Night definitely going back.
I just went there last night, I'm not a drinks critic, however, the tapas there were excellent, I especially like the chilli prawns with their sour cream, they were very tender and creamy, pity there were only a few, we also tried the lamb sticks they were o.k. probably because I'm not a lamb fan, the duck and shallot pancakes were excellent too.
Great place for a quick pre theatre dinner. We had four dishes; scallops, prawns, stuffed peppers and lamb kebabs. We loved all the dishes though the lamb kebabs may have been overrated in comparison to the other three dishes which we all thought were much better. My partner even enthused about the scallops because he normally doesn’t like sea food but in his own words “If it all that fresh and tasted that good, he would love it.”
We ordered dessert with some trepidation as we didn’t want to be disappointed after such a great meal because some reviews have been poor for the desserts. It was the best bread and butter pudding I have had in a long time and the serving size was large, not that it went to waste, considering it was only $10.
We had a jug of sangria which made the meal all the better. The service was great, friendly and efficient, with just the right amount of attention even though it was busy and everyone else seemed to also be on the pre theatre time schedule.
We will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu.
We were busy chatting and had not had a chance to look at the menu, the waitress very helpfully offered to supply us with 6 of the best dishes for four people, which she thought we would enjoy. The food was fantastic (every dish was a smash), it was just the right amount for four and the service was perfect.
We had just enough room left for dessert, which, unfortunately, after the high quality meal was a bit of a let down. The desserts were sara lee quality and not what we were expecting after such a fantastic meal. Highly Recommend the food and drinks, but stay away from the desserts.
Took a lovely chick here on one of our first dates. It turned out to be one of the best nights/dinners I've had in Sydney. Company was perfect, wine amazing and food yummy. Even the music was top drawer. Don't want to recommend this too much as it's one of Sydney's best kept secrets. One of those nights for me when everything fell into place.
With a varied and interesting menu, the Firefly experience proved to be very worthwhile. We really enjoyed the scallops, prawns, duck pancakes and lamb kebabs. Yum!!
The brulee and stickdate pudding were equally impressive.
A quiet girl’s dinner turned into a whole heap of fun. My friend had never been to Firefly and was very impressed! Good food, conversation and great atmosphere. The waiters were very attentive, charismatic and excellent service was provided by every single one of them. I would definitely go back and sample the other dishes we didn't get to try. Can't go wrong with any of the dishes, especially liked their desserts! Will be back for more. Shame they're not opened for breakfast!
My new waterside favourite dining experience! Sitting here with a glass of bubbly contemplating the world around me (and fascinated by the fellow closeby that alternated bouts of painting with fishing) felt just like being on holiday! The three staff on the floor couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful, and were definitely not precious about serving to any particular sections. And there was food too! And generous portions at that, was that a whole loaf of perfectly toasted turkish bread accompanying the dips?
Loved it all but over-ordered by one dish, and it probably would be the dips I would leave off next time. (not because they were not good, because they were, but why fill up on bread when theres so many other yummy things to eat?!). Delicate scallops in garlic butter, hearty lamb/merguez skewers resting on a chickpea and eggplant base, meaty and spicy chicken chorizo, and beetroot with a mixed leaf salad was a well balanced mixture of goodies which did not disappoint.
This is a well deserved popular spot and is now my number one choice for pre-theatre dining. Heck, I would even go there without the theatre. Especially as we then proceeded to the most disappointing play (or half of it, which was all we could stomach), regretting that we hadn't spent more time at dinner instead!

Great place. Came in the other night and had the SMH Good Food promo. The Moroccan Martini and the Lamb Skewers, really good combination. Service was great, nice to have a friendly staff that know their stuff. Will definitely be back.
