Went here for my brother's birthday, had a surprisingly good time. We started with the grilled haloumi, which was lovely and balanced well with a sweet and acidic tomato and balsamic vinegar salad. We also enjoyed the bbq octopus which was nicely charred and smoky, but also tender and savoury.
I have to say that my lychee cocktail was absolutely perfect, the warm, sweet and slightly spicy lychee liqueur harmonising well with cold, refreshingly sour lemon juice. My brother ordered the full rack of ribs, which were enormous, marinated to tender deliciousness in a sweet Chinese hoisin sauce, and then charred to a crispy succulent finish. My gnocchi and my friend's prawn linguine were less spectacular- I've found that, for whatever reason, Figo's is hugely reluctant to add salt to any of their pasta dishes.
We didn't order any dessert as we were stuffed. The interior is quite smart, a bit business-like but softened with coloured cushions and gentle lighting. Service was very good, our waiter being attentive yet unobtrusive. We paid about $50 a head, including a drink each. The entrees, ribs and cocktails are particularly recommended.
We stumbled across this great eatery last week and hope to eat there in the future when ever we are in Parramatta. We had the T-bone lunch special ($16.50 each) which was a perfect great tasting steak; it came with chips, a really fresh salad and a glass of wine! The waiting staff was excellent, prompt and very friendly. Well done Figos. Highly recommended and great value for money!
We ordered a fillet mignon and got a very cheap cut scotch fillet steak that was uneatable and it was served with instant mashed potatoes that seemed to have been reheated. My wife ordered the chicken and lamb skewers and the salad was wilted and the lamb seemed a bit off. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. It is definitely one of the worst places I have eaten at in the world and I travel all the time. The value for money is definitely no worth it.
I have dined at Figos with my family several times and love going back there. The food has always been great - fresh ingredients, generous servings. The meat platter for one can never be finished by just one!!
The service is friendly and efficient, and nothing is too much trouble no matter how busy they are. The ambience is modern, relaxed, understated and welcoming, great for dining out with family and friends. It can get noisy at times for the right reason (people enjoying their evening in a relaxed atmosphere). As long as they keep up the good work, I will keep going back!!
We have eaten a few times at Figo's but Friday's meal was outstanding. We started with the garlic Pizza, lovely thick crust, lots of cheese and Garlic. Followed by the Haloumi + the mushrooms. Haloumi was tender (not chewy) with fresh sliced tomatoes, balanced out the haloumi nicely. Garlic Mushrooms were chunky chopped mushrooms in a light buttery garlic sauce. Followed this with the Fillet Mignon, thick cut of tender steak and the pork with apple. 4 slices of pork (probably a little too many) all came with vegetables and mashed potato (which is becoming a rarity in this city).
Prices are between $25-35 for a main but they do come with vegies included. They had a Jazz band playing softly which added to the atmosphere and been away from Church street, no roaring bikes or cars. Service was fantastic they allowed sufficient time between courses without even asking, there was no eat it and beat it feeling.
We recently celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at Figos, the food, waitstaff and management were first class, their efforts made for us a great evening. We had their signature dishes, meat and seafood, I am a big eater, but the meat platter beat me. The waitstaff were always nearby and attentave, but never in your face. The cost was reasonable, value for money.
