Wow have I been going to the same restaurant as these people? Every time I have been the food has been outstanding. I have had the high tea several times with friends and it has always been great. I think the people that whinge about the portions don't know what to expect from a High Tea. It is supposed to be a daintly, elegant thing, so if you expect to get a bucket load of food, then go to KFC.
I have also had the pizzas which have never been oily and my fave would be the unusual potato one, followed closely by the salmon one. Both light and tasty and freshly made. They actually make the pizza dough on site, not like a couple of other restaurants close by who use frozen bases and just top them to order. So what about the pricing? Do you people ever eat out in the city? I guess not or otherwise you would not be complaining about the prices.
Take a tip. Get out of Castle Towers Food court and go to the big smoke for dinner and check out the meal prices down there. Try and get a two course lunch with a drink for under $30. Good luck. And for those of you who are still unsure, go on a Wednesday night where you can have a pizza and get a free dessert. It won't break the bank and you can get an idea of what the restaurant is Really like. Maybe I'll see you there.
The starter garlic pizza and dips were delicious, but a rather small portion. My partners main steak came out well done and the mash potato was very watered down and runny. I had the chicken which was very moist and cooked well, but, unfortunately, it was sitting in a soup type sauce which did not accompany it very well at all. Rather disappointing and not good value for money. Not recommended.
I went here for lunch with my mother and sister we thought we should give this restaurant a try as the atmosphere looks alright. I went to the door for about 15 minutes till the waiter came and greet us. We looked through the menu and there wasn't much variety my mother and I ended up having the pizza for entree and my sister had the soup and for the mains I had the steak while my mother had the chicken and my sister had the fish.
Firstly is that the pizza was hard, chewy and a bit burnt. The soup had no taste. The steak was overcooked as I asked for a medium-rare I was given a medium well done. Throughout the meal the steak had tendons and chewy and there was no taste in the sauces either which was rather disappointing. The chicken was practically poured over with some soup and hard to eat as the soup was splashing on the table it just looked messy. The fish also had no taste and my sister found 3 fish bone while eating.
Secondly, we tried the dessert the european tasting dessert and it was horrible. The tart looks like it was taken from a packet and it was hard. It was very disappointing experience. The staff wasn't attentive we had to wait 10 minutes till we actually got the staff's attention. This is not recommended.
Went for their $29.90 High Tea on Sunday. You get a choice of 1 tea with a cake stand of (split for 1 person equals) 1 sandwich, 1 scone, half a chocolate tart, 1 passionfruit tart, some cookie type things, 1 cube marshmallow, 1 macaroon. The price is cheaper compared to other high teas.
The ambience is not that great. You look out onto Old Northern Road, which is quite ugly, and the seat I was sitting was on a bit broken (stuffing coming out). The service isn't great either. You have to ask for tea refills etc, rather than them coming around to you. It takes a while to signal a waiter down and they are not particularly friendly.
The food is alright. The scones are fresh and soft, and the sandwiches are quite yummy. I really liked the passionfruit tart and the marshmallows are very yummy (taste different to store bought). The choice of teas are many (but they came back and said quite a few were out of stock!) and typical of high teas.
I took my wife to Eurolounge last night and ordered the Seafood Platter for 2. The meal was atrocious. The Lobster was hard and chewy (overcooked and not fresh?) The crab was the same. The serving sizes questionably small. The oysters were not fresh and wait for it we paid $155 for this! 2 years ago it was a totally different story. Whats the go?. Not recommended at all.
I ate at Eurolounge last night and was quite disappointed in the place. First of all, we made a booking and was seated on a table that was set up the wrong way. The cocktail menu was dirty. The waiters had to right down our order instead of memorising it, quite innapropriate in a fine dining restaurant.
I asked 2 waiters if they could recommend a good cocktail and they didn't know.
The meal was cold and then when we ordered our cocktails they got the order wrong. When we asked for a dessert menu they brought out two different menus, one was the old menu and one was new. It was very unprofessional. We walked out wishing we went to sushi train next door instead of paying for an extremely over priced meal.
Eaten here four times, lunch specials are okay as you are only paying $25 (although I think the price have gone up recently). But dinner is way over priced considering the food isn't all that impressive. But, whatever you do, do not try high tea here! Its absolutely pathetic. I could have made better sandwiches at home! If you want some decent food, go across the road to somewhere else.
-Food is 'authentic' and 'fine' European cuisine. The Crab Fussili, Greek Moussaka and Salt and Pepper Calamari dishes are delicious. Ambience is a 'cosy', 'modern' and 'stylish' restaurant setting. Service is 'attentive', 'friendly' and 'prompt.' Value for money, not quite! However, the 'lunch' menu at $25 certainly is value for money!
