This is one of those restaurants where it's easy to say "I'll have what she's having"..

The Duck and Pork Knuckle mains looked fantastic and are wlecome sights for groaning stomachs. We just had to have them as per the neighbour table. A great German restaurant with good selection of beers from Bavaria also.

What a fantastic restaurant Essen is. The servings were not only huge but beautifully cooked and presented. Quite possibly the best restaurant I have eaten at in a long time. Service was also great and the food arrived in a short time. The panna cotta dessert was superb. Well done kitchen staff. We will be back.

Had a great night out with some of my friends at the Essen Restaurant.

The staff was super friendly and attentive, suggested me the alcoholic Ginger Beer which was a great catch. The entrees have been served within minutes. Wow!
Not to forget the Camembert is a must!

I had a Schnitzel for my main. It was delicious, however, I think it's slightly overprized. But then again, the portion size is massive. Couldn't even finish everything though I was starving when I came in.

But I still had space for some dessert. I had the Apple and Pear strudle which was average. Also I was really surprised how busy the place was considering it was a Tuesday night. It was packed and the noise level really high. Pumping up the music didn't make having a conversation any easier.

All in all it's a place I would reccommend to everyone who is interested in German cuisine. Go and try it out and have a laugh with the entertaining staff!

The service and ambience are great but the food is ridiculously overpriced. The schnitzels are a joke. You are given 2 large pieces but the amount of meat inside them is minuscule. They are very flat and covered with breadcrumbs. After I removed the breadcrumbs there was essentially only 10 bites of veal.

Seriously one of the best German food restaurants I've been to. Their schnitzel is amazing!

I studied for a year in Germany and honestly I love going here because it reminds me of my time there.

The service is always great, the people are so friendly (and often German themselves).

My fiancée and I lunched on the Jaeger (Hunter's) platter, a feast of duck, black pudding, sausages, dumplings, pork belly and rosti - a mountainous meal to share! The voucher we had bought included a nice merlot cab sav cab franc blend, 2005 vintage which complemented the food well. Oh and we added in a fried Camembert and cranberry entrée as well - delicious!

Great food, authentic atmosphere (German pop songs during the day, which was a nice change from the clichéd Oompahpah music you'd expect!) and friendly service, we'll be back to sample the biers, schnapps and schnitzel for sure!

Went here last week with my boyfriend, the dessert was out of this world! The apple strudel was divine, by far the best I have eaten outside of Europe. Will definitely be back for the friendly service and delicious selection of schnapps.

Went here last week with some friends, on a reccomendation from one of us. Very simple, this place is great service good food and not the inner city prices. I had the Duck with its cabbage and potato dumpling. It really reminds me of home and how my mother used to cook it for us. I will definitely come back for some more.

We generally had a good meal but, after leaving a tip on top of our $300+ bill we were promptly asked to leave. Why? There were other empty tables and no-one else waiting. Bad waitress decision! We won't be back!
