Visited this hotel on a friday night. Wow! The beers on tap were amazing, and all I tasted were clean and fresh. Service was friendly and fast, but the most surprising thing was the prices of some of the premium spirits, some are $3 cheaper than other surrounding bars! I'll definitely be back on a saturday night to check out the scene, its a shame I didn't get to try the food.
I came here for lunch which lead to drinks well into the evening. The food did take a little while to come out but when it did it was beautiful with a large portion! The range of beers is fabulous, and the happy hours are fab!! The staff were friendly and had a lot of product knowledge! I definitely recommend this bar!
This place was absolutely awful. We were treated very rudely because management incorrectly labelled a "reserved eating area". The tables we sat at were clearly separate from the so called reserved area and we were serve dour main meal, which we ate. We ordered a second round of drinks and were then rudely told to either move tables or to leave the premises (this was in the middle of the day mind you). We will never be frequenting this establishment again. And we will certainly never recommend any work functions be held here.
Forget this place on a friday and sometimes a thursday. The staff here simply cannot cope with a fullish pub with most ppl ordering food. It's like a circus, they are all monkeys running around with no idea. The good thing for them is by the time the food comes out, you'r so hungry that lettuce and toast would be an awesome feed. The beers on tap are good.
Came here on a busy Friday lunch time, and was basically ignored by the young girl who was in charge of getting people tables. Finally, said she'd fix us a table for 2, drifted off and we had to chase her down and stand with her until she finally did something about it. There was a long line to order, but once we did order, the food came out within a reasonable period of time.
Highlights was that the salt and pepper squid is absolutely beautiful, the decor is nice and comfortable as well. In terms of pricing, it's not too bad but it's certainly not pub prices either. But I guess it balances it out with the quality of the food!
Would try coming back on a quieter day, hopefully the service would be better!
This place is great, it is just a pub really but the food is restaurant quality and huge portions. I always get a burger to share. The prices are reasonable as well, and so many beers to choose from.
What a great idea! I think some people here have missed the point - beer prices aren't published and sometimes go up ridiculously high because it's a concept venue. A stockmarket tape runs across the top of the bar advertising the latest prices for all of the 64 beers on tap. It's called Equilibrium because the stock market computer keeps all the beer in balance! If everyone is buying Tooheys New, the price goes up to $7 and the premium beers drop down to $3 (a bargain for this city). Occasionally they have stock market crashes where all the beer goes dirt cheap! That way everyone gets to try something new for below average price - if you just keep on the one beer all night, you're bound to get caught paying a high price eventually - keep an eye on the bargains. I think it's really original idea, makes for a fun venue, chilled atmosphere - and the salt and pepper squid is perfect. I had a great time and really recommend it (I also had a great service experience... not sure about some of these reviews).
I work in the city and we all meet here on a friday night for a drink or two. Nice place to let your hair down after a busy week in the office. Ambience is always pumping, 7 nights a week here. A bit pricey but we all keep turning up every friday night.
Good location, decent selection of beers and drinks, a well polished feel but that's all the good things. Atrocious pricing - 4 beers was going to cost $46!! The beers weren't even that "boutique" - just a little creatures pale ale, and 3 squire golden ales! Luckily the barman gave me $20 back off it but not something I will be doing ever again! How could they have missed an opportunity to educate people's beer palates a little, with the pricing you might as well drink VB or New!
