Wednesday = cheap mussels and they were tiny and really salty. My accompanying friend was also there the previous evening and the mussels were also every small and again salty. Rib-eye was great though! Staff attentive so I hope the signature mussels improve cos at $28 normal price they'd be sub-standard.
We love half price mussels on Wednesday! the mussels are so hearty and the chip and mayo are a kind reminder of my uni days. I'm very happy sitting around with friends chatting above the noise (yes it does get noisy but its all pub style). Obviously its a beer cafe and not as family friendly, but who goes to a pub expecting that? I think its a great place to dine cheap have a few beers and catch up. The service has always been great always smiles! we at work lunch here, and team bonding, everyone liked their meals and all will be back!
Food came out quickly but was nothing special. The waitress hardly attended to our table, there was only two of us and it was a quiet Monday night. There was no check up on how our meals were, She didn't come to the table to offer dessert and we had to go to the bar and ask for the bill. The waitress was sitting in the kitchen on the bench texting on her mobile phone. Definitely won't be going back.
This place is ok for a drink out the front, if you can stand the crush. The food out the back was awful and the noise was just unbelievable. Really needs some acoustic treatment, as we could not even hear each other talk. Would never go back for a meal. The mussels were ordinary, no wonder they were cheap.
I had a lot of fun here! Great easy food that you would have with mates over a few beers which are amazing but a little on steep side when it comes time to buy a round. All round great place to have in the area with good staff.
Went there with my girlfriend with the booking, there were another couple before us which didn't have bookings, old man greeted them nicely take them to the seat.
When it comes to us, this man's attitude changed in a sudden, he checked the booking, and told me that we are only here to have a quick bite, what the? I don't think it is the restaurants call to decide how long I am going to stay there, anyway, ordered the food, and it was average.
At the end of the meal we didn't finished the beer that we've ordered and was taking the bottle out, one of their waitress came and said in a demanding tone that we are not allowed to take it out, I ask for the reason, and she couldn't answer, then she went for the senior staff who served us and the senior staff was telling us it is alright. What the? A restaurant with the poorest service that I've ever been, and will surely advertise their services to my friends!
We go here lots as our local pub/restaurant. As noted, it has noisy, fun pub type ambience not suited for a romantic night out. Mussels are worth the visit, the rest of the menu is a bit stodgy/heavy (typical Belgian fare). Beers may be pricy but they taste great, there is a great selection that beats our mass production local brews any day. Wednesday night has half price mussels, so dinner for two for $25. Amazing value so the beer is then quite affordable.
The food is the best part about this place. Everything else is a disappointment. Its very very noisy. There seem to be many drunk people loitering around the bar and the staff are dismissive. Its expensive. Not a good place for kids or families. Or anyone that has a bit of class. Yep the food is great, but its really more of a trashy yet dressed up pub.
We had an after work function here at it is a great spot. It's noisy and busy and the service is average but the beer selection and food, cheese mussels in particular all were very good. Somewhat pricey and not a romantic dinner spot in a million years but for a few beers and a decent meal with work colleagues or customers you know well very nice.
Went on Sat for lunch and the beer on tap was flat, both the Leffe Blonde and the Hoegaarden. When we asked about this, we were told that's the style of wheat beer. Since my companion and I have both been to Belgium and have drunk both Leffe and Hoegaarden on tap in this restaurant and the one on the city many times, we knew this was a pathetic line for a poorly poured and badly stored beer.
The manager replaced our beer with more flat beer, and, in the spirit of not wanting to ruin our lunch, we didn't complain further. But, we will never return, and feel that this restaurant is doing a disservice to Belgian Beer by not ensure that they service the best possible product. The food was decent, but not good enough for a return visit.
