I don't know what all these people are on about! I have been to this place so many times and everytime it is nothing but fantastic! The food is to die for service super friendly, I think the place has great atmosphere but have always been in a cushioned room which adds it, BYO and cheap food they are always happy for us to hang around and have a few drinks after, I can't fault it, The Lady fingers, oh so good! and its the best hommus I've ever tasted everything is great really!
Have been here many times with friends and I guess I suffer it to be sociable, but no more, on my last visit they pushed the envelope to far. 15 minutes after arrival I was unfortunate enough to witness one of the kitchen staff exit the toilet cubical without washing his hands and return to the kitchen, and recommence food preparation. That was enough for me, and our group left, never to return. I made a formal complaint to South Sydney Council, I hope they act upon it and check this place out.
What can I say! The food was below mediocre, and the decor was shocking. Although the worst part was their service. I was impolitely spoken to by the restaurant manager, whom at that time was taking my order. The wine I ordered was meant to come out chilled, however, it didn't and my main came out 2 hours after iIordered it.
To describe my experience at Emad's Restaurant, I would say that it was distasteful, both the food and the senior staff's attitude. The overall experience was dissatisfying and dreadful. I highly recommend anyone not to come to this restaurant but rather spent your evening dining in any one of Sydneys many lebanese restaurants thats most likely to be better than this one!
Have been going to Emad's for years! Find the food very tasty and authentic and great value for money! Don't be put off by the area or dodgy decor, cause the staff are lovely and the food is extremely good and filling! Have always felt extremely satisified and happy. Always gone with a group of 4-10 friends and gone for the banquet. Great for vegetarians as well!
We popped in for a quick bite at around 9.30 pm last night. The first thing we noticed was the dreadfully worn carpet, the second thing was that the new tented ceiling fabric was already falling down. The third thing we noticed that we were totally ignored. We stood in the 'office' area whilst the owner took an amazing amount of time to close off an account without a look, a smile, nothing, no sign of acknowledgement. After standing around for nearly 10 minutes we decided to leave and went down to Hannibal.
We went here after watching the chopping block and were quite disappointed. The service was terrible, we tried about 3-4 times for someone to take our order. The food finally arrived but appeared to have been well prepared some time before as a lot of people from our table commented how quiet and calm the kitchen was, thats because no one was cooking anything!
I thought at least the bread would be warm but it wasn't. The best part was the kebabs at the end but they were somewhat dry, would have been nice to have the hummous we asked for (to go with it) but came after we had all finished. For $30 ahead for the banquet I would have preferred to spend my $30 on a really great main somewhere else. Disappointing as I had high expectations after watching Matt Moran comment on the good food on the chopping block.
The service was terrible we spent two hours, 1 half of our mains came 45 minutes in and the second half 45 minutes later, we were all served at different time and we were not even allowed to eat the super banquet seperately we had to share a minimal amount of food. We were not offered a drink once and ordered several items that never came.
Had high expectations of Emads and was definitely disappointed. The service was terrible, we were rushed into making a decision, not allowed to stagger our order, and generally ignored.
The hommous was nice enough, as was the tabouli but for $14 a plate was very expensive. The baba ghanoush tasted like cigarette ash, the lamb tasteless and the chicken rice back to the bad old days. We as a table left hungry, unsatisfied and certainly not returning. With all the lebanese restaurants in the area go somewhere else!
We went for a joint birthday, we loved the flavours of the food and the quality, but it was confusing when they bought it out as all of us had ordered different banquets and were not sure who should have what, should be separate plates for separate banquet prices. Though portion sizes were inadequate esp dessert, where two of us who purchased the delux banquet had to cut a piece of baclava and turkish delight in half as they only bought one of each out and one coffee each??
Were also extremely disappointed when we were specifically told there would be a belly dancer and there wasn't one, overall bit disappointing.
Went for a birthday and we each paid $30 for a set menu. The entrees were good but all we got for mains is one lousy small piece of lamb. All of us were still hungry and expecting more food to come out... or at least coffee or dessert. Instead we were asked to leave around 10pm. Never going back again!
