Overview
El Mojito @ Morgans brings the tastes of the Med and Asia together with organic and chemical free ingredients, international wine list and 26 different styles of Mojito cocktails.
The restaurant had zero ambiences and was very cold inside. When we asked the waiter about the type of cuisine of the menu, he said "normal food". The food took about half and hour to arrive. The ravioli was very bland, served cold; I could have made it better myself. My friends had the gnocchi, which was flavoursome yet very stodgy and doughy. We also ordered the chicken cattiatore which was dry and tasteless. Pork belly was quite good and the fish was ok. Generous servings for all main meals which was decent value for the money.
The service was ok, yet not extremely professional or friendly. I hate to be rude about the restaurant but we didn’t have a very pleasurable experience and would hope that no one has the same experience as we did.
I went here this morning (Sunday) with my parents for a brunch. We were the only ones there pretty much and the service at first was a little slow [but friendly!].
The food, however, was AWESOME. I had this amazing apple/parsley soup, mum had gnocchi with pumpkin and pesto and cream (great combo) and dad had a steak with mash which was lovely! I'm definitely going to come here again for a leisurely breakfast! Great value as well.
Breakfast, sat, 8:30 am, we're the only 2 customers. 2 things on small menu not available, banana bread or banana pancakes. These are pretty common menu items, why aren't they available on sat morning? I ordered pancakes and maple syrup. The pancakes were dry and horrible, obviously a packet mix. On top of my pancakes was a sliced strawberry, it was so old, it was disgusting.
It had obviously been sliced on a previous day, because it was dry and withered on the sliced sections, and it was grey and in places black. Was the kitchen staff completely blind? My partners meal was ok, bacon and eggs, but the whole meal took over half an hour to come, and we were the only customers!!!! We won't be going there again!
I must have come on a good night because everything we ordered was great. The chilli and the pork was fantastic and the mezze plate was so good we ordered another two.
We ordered stuff squid and Mezze plate for entree and they were nothing spectacular but not bad. Squid was blend and the crab meat stuffing was a little overcooked. Beetroot dip on the Mezze plate was quite delicious. However, main course Meat balls, Chilli con carn and Tuna steak were rather average. Beef fillet from chilli con carn was very tough and the source was straight out from a supermarket can. Source for the buck wheat noodle served with Tuna steak was over seasoned with soy sauce and sugar and had a very unpleasant after taste. Won't be back for a hurry!!
After sailing to Sydney as a group of 9 we were welcomed handsomely by the staff. The Mojito cocktails got the evening started with a fresh taste and into the crab stuffed squid. My chilli concarne was a treat, fresh food yum. The souffle was en excellent finish to the earth hour evening with candles. I'll go back just for the house wine, nudes and cocktails. Food and fun with a twist.
Just had to write and review this fantastic restaurant as my husband and I ate there recently and fell in love with the food and service provided by El'Mojito, Darlinghurst.
I had the grilled stuffed squid which was so tender it melted in my mouth and I also had the BBQ Haloumi which was absolutely delicious. My husband ate the seafood gumbo which was so fresh I think the owner must have ducked out in the morning and threw a line out into Sydney Harbour...Unbelievable. He also had the 7 hour pork roast which was cooked to perfection.
I would reccommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food and fine dining with a funky twist.
Loved El Mojito! The food was to die for, such a healthy and creative menu, and the location and service were spot on. Such great variety on the menu and I would recommend it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A great place to people watch with cool funky decor. I'll definitely be back!
Food was really tasty and interesting combinations like the watermelon and feta cheese salad. Had to send the tuna steak back as was too well done initially but the second attempt was perfect.
