The Eight is the typical Yum Cha place: Yummy food with The Zero service.
Please wait to be seated and they really meant it. Wait as in ignored, stood there for like five minutes before getting some form of ungrateful grimace.
Once you get seated, it's another story, the food was fresh and the fried food were still warm even after being pushed around which is always a good sign.
No complaints about the food. Everything was seasoned and nothing was overcooked. I'll let the photos speak for this one.
Conclusion - You really only pay for the food at this place, it's above average but if you're treated like dirt as you step in, the food has to be really exceptional to come back to. Funny thing is, the people earning the least i.e. people pushing the trolley are the friendliest of the lot.
If it's a big group and you couldn't care less about the sloppy service it might be actually acceptable to dine here. Don't fell bad if you don't tip.

Enjoyed the yum cha experience at the Eight. Except it's just too loud and the service is very Chinese. The food was pretty good though so I suppose that's the main thing.

Great Dim Sum. Tasty and fresh food with large variety. But the toilet is terrible, tap is broken, always look grimy and dirty. Prefer to use one outside in Market City. Wish the owner could spend money refurbishing the toilet.

We saw their facebook page and tried the peking duck. The peking duck was only $38.8. I have to say it was value. I love their peking duck, the skin was very crispy. It was way better than my expectation.

I went to The Eight this weekend to celebrate my dad's birthday. The seafood was really tasty and great. By the way, the staffs were very friendly.

The dim sim was great, lots of variety. We have 15 of us and were sitting at the round VIP room. Is was very nice and private. The service was ok, and the wine list was huge. Would definitely go back.

Yum Cha was stereotypical. Service was normal and ambiance was noisy. The decor was quiet nice and vibrant. Also, the food was quiet nice. (May) be returning in the future.

I'm Chinese & I love Yum Cha!
Just rating the food: good Yum Cha.
We came to Eight Modern Chinese for a quick brunch before 12 noon. The Har Cheung (Prawns in Flat Rice Noodles) was the stand out today. The Har Gau (Prawn Dumplings) and Daiji Gau (Scallop Dumplings) were good, but not great. Other Yum Cha places have fresher seafood in their dumplings. But at least the dumpling wrappers were made well and didn't collapse when grabbed with chopsticks. I don't normally try the Baked Char Siew Bao (BBQ Pork Buns), but there wasn't much else on offer. Other buns in other restaurants have more meat inside.
There wasn't a great deal of variety in dimsum dishes today. Possibly because we were a bit early before the major lunch rush. Overall, good Yum Cha but $$$$. We were a bit shocked at the bill considering we only had 4 dishes.
