There's nothing "modern" about this restaurant. It's just another bog-standard Chinese restaurant with fish tanks, abrupt service, dirty carpet and squashy tables.
And trolleys! I'm not talking about yum cha, mind you - we went there for dinner. Everything in this place gets pushed out and picked up on trolleys. We sat near the kitchen and all night long noisy, rattling trolleys were wheeled past non-stop. There was about one every minute. I hated those trolleys with a passion.

I brought a 4 ppl voucher and we chose it because we think is worth it. The peking duck was delicious and the dim sim was fresh. Most of the common dishes was in the banquet.

Food was great, and fresh. Service seemed normal for yum cha, no better nor worse than your average yum cha place. Decor is quite striking with its red carpet and walls. Has a wide variety, so would definitely come back here again. Plus they have discounted parking at haymarket if you eat here at only $5.

Decor was looks refreshing and clean. And that's about it. Food was mediocre at best, service was under par, prices wasnt the best deal in town. There wasn't any food presentation, chefs just threw it on a ice cold plate. Wait staff were more interested in chatting than serving.

The food here is excellent, fresh tasting, delicious flavors, everything very distinctive. Four people ate heartily and loved it all. That should say it all! Moreover, They provide special parking rate at Market City Car park. Which is a big convenience!

I am Chinese and I am picky about Chinese food but I think this is by far the best Chinese Restaurant I have been. We ordered some popular dishes. Roasted duck, seafood soup. I like the seafood soup but my friend said the taste is not pure enough.

Have to agree with some of the other comments regarding this restaurant, mostly a nice enough meal but not very memorable and would not rush back. Traipsing up to the third level of a slightly rough around the edges shopping centre is not a wonderful start and the overall ambience is fairly predictable. Lots of staff on which is good but they seem to be busy without being effective.
Ordered the steamed mixed entree for two which was ok, the dumplings were pretty good but needed the chilli sauce on the side to liven it up. Honey king prawns and betel leaf mixed vegies with fried rice for the mains - again pretty good and the veg were nicely crisp fresh and lightly handled.
Wine list is fairly uninspiring but has enough to get you out of jail. The fresh seafood looked pretty good and would be a recommendation if you visited. Bathrooms are best avoided, grimy and need a good deep clean.

I've never been here for dinner but the Yum-Cha here is good enough to cater for my colleagues and I to frequent this every week. They have enough variety to prevent us getting sick of the flavours and the price is reasonable. The service is as you would expect at any other Chinese yum-cha place with no above-and-beyond-service. I guess it is always much too busy for them to smile or do anything extra. The ambience is very lively and as you would expect at a Yum-Cha environment.

I frequent The Eight and have never disappointed by the quality of the food. Even better, the dishes are not overly expensive and I leave with absolute satisfaction every time. My main criticism would have to involve the uneven trolley paths; depending on where one is seated, you will either have good access to food or it will take some time before a trolley comes by. Despite this slight disadvantage, the staff are very friendly and know what they are doing.

The food tastes very good. Especially the Egg Custard Bun! Best bun I have ever had. So moist inside, excellent taste. Went there for high school gathering 12 ppl. I would highly suggest you book in on weekend. Otherwise you gonna wait like forever. Fine service. However we find that the way how the waitress keep asking if we want the dish kind of annoying. Overall it worth my money.
