I had heard about this place from a friend and had also noticed it in the area before. We were a little dubious as the curtains conceal the interior from the outside but I now imagine that is because the view is of Parramatta road. The interior is a very nice, quaint Swiss decor.
The food was lovely. There were a few things left on the menu we wanted to come back another time to try. I would recommend trying it. There are not many Swiss restaurants around so it was something different and it was a nice experience. The owners run the place and they seem to enjoy themselves and do a good job.

The food was really nice, however I could have eaten more vegetables.
Overall the flavours were good and will definitely return again.

After reading the reviews were a little worried but really looked forward to it and it was not a let down. Besides the lack of highchairs and the owner gave me a good reason why it was a fantastic experience...down to earth hard working restaurateur!

Look guys take this place for what it's worth. A great little quirky swiss restaurant on a main road! Decked out like something out of faulty towers, get the owner on a good night you'll get a show, I always manage to fire him up with one cheeky comment and its all systems go from there!
The food is good honest homestyle european food, I have never been disappointed and probably only go once a year! it won't be around forever do make the effort and have a schnitzel the size of your head, value for money is great. Alain makes you feel like you've stepped into the sound of music/faulty towers
worth it!

On busy Parramatta road, its not the most convenient place to park.
Reading all the comments, I was expecting more from the host or him to say or do something weird. The only thing that happened was him making a pass on my date or was he just being extra friendly saying she was beautiful? Thats ok, its just a bit of fun, I think, the food didn't take too long to come out either
The food, including the fondue is nice but nothing outstanding. Portion sizes looks a little bigger than expected but it maybe an illusion as I was close to full at the end of the meal instead of being full. My date rated the chocolate as good, as my taste buds can't tell much difference between chocolate. The veges that came with the meal were dipped in something to make them soft and the taste was good.
Ambience, though there is some decorations, the interior and exterior looks old.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, there wasn't many people there on a friday night and with its location and parking issues, I'm surprised its still in business.
Didn't try the cheese fondue, I would come here again, its a little different to other places.

Great little restaurant if you want a casual dining experience. Granted its not a modern, sleek and innovative menu, but the speck noodle, camembert, jager schnitzel and rouladen are amazing.

What a strange experience! From Alain, the eccentric (an understatement) host, to the table water served in old soft drink bottles with the label torn off, this was one unique dining experience. The ambience is kitsch swiss, and in it's own way would be charming, if it wasn't for the dirty walls splattered with years of food debris.
The service is bizarre but entertaining. The food is overpriced, and has a definite home-cooked feel (complete with squishy, bloated veg). In saying all of this, I did enjoy the experience as a whole for it's strangeness, but I wouldn't go back. Someone else mentioned the food being reminiscent of their Swiss Nana's cooking, and I am sure if you are a Swiss expat, longing for a home cooked meal, the Eiger would meet your need.
For the rest of us, if you are the kind of person who can appreciate a bizarre and unique experience for what it is, go once, just for the entertainment value.

My partner and I had originally wanted to go to Essen at Broadway as we felt like schnitzel for dinner. Due to not being able to find a park, I remembered this restaurant. We got to the door, had second thoughts briefly, but thought hell lets just go in. Being a Thursday evening, the place was not that busy. Being our first time here I did not know what to expect.
The decor is very much in keeping with the Swiss theme much like Una's or Essen. We ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel. Beautiful! The mushroom sauce was full of flavour. The servings were not ridiculously massive, like at the White Cockatoo pub. We actually quite enjoyed ourselves. The service is quirky but jolly and a little bit fawlty towerish, I say this though in good spirit. I would recommend this place to anyone. The food alone is well priced and very good.

Visited the Eiger last night with friends. As this restaurant is on Parramatta Road it is no surprise we were the only patrons. We were served water in an old plastic soft drink bottle. The owner questioned our meal choices. We ordered fondue for four out of resignation. The fondue is 24 dollars per person and is comprised of white bread and melted cheese. The owner promised us a 20% discount if we finished the fondue. When he brought our bill he said he would meet us halfway (?) and not charged us for our drinks but had charged us full price for the fondue.
Since we only ordered two drinks this was more like an 8% discount. The vibe of this place is not disimilar to that of the Olympia Milk Bar which is locally famous for being creepy and pointless.

From reading previous reviews we were expecting ovewhelming escapades of eccentric from Alain, and were eager to be entertained by such acclaims. However, he wasn't intimidating at all. He's a little straight forward and abrupt but certainly not "rude". It appears some reviewers are far too sensitive, or tend to over-exaggerate to try to prove a point.
Anyway, onto the restaurant itself. If you're after kitsch Austrian decor and decent European food then you really should come here. The crumbed mushroom entree was average, the mushrooms were 'sweating' beneath the crumbed coating. However the creamy paprika veal is a stand-out, and one I will be coming back for to try on my own (a friend ordered it).
I had the Cordon Bler which was pretty good though could have been served with a side of mayo or tartare sauce as it was a bit dry. I asked for sauce to which Alain gladly provided tartare. The blokes had shnitzel and both agreed it was very good. Each dish comes with rosti (shredded fried potato) which is so delicious, as well as seasonal vegies. It's BYO and no corkage so drink up!
The highlight of our evening (apart from the good food and checking out the decor) is being able to take home a video of German/Austrian music which Alain happily gives out for free. It's a lucky dip, and we chose well. We spent the next three hours at a mates place being highly entertained watching an 80's Austrian folk music festival featuring many mullets and oompa bands. Classic!
