I have two favourite Thai restaurants and this is one of them. Nice atmosphere, quiet but friendly and attentive staff. The food never disappoints. We have tried a few of the surrounding Thai places but always return here. Worth a try, I am sure you will go more than once.
This is my favourite Thai in Sydney so far. The food is always fresh and very flavoursome. I am in love with the green curry and now never order it anywhere else. There are some cheaper Thai's at the Spot but I've never enjoyed them as much as East. They have a good list of specials which changes pretty regularly although the main menu is comprehensive.
The decor is modern and clean although benches aren't always the most comfortable but it's busy enough for atmosphere without sitting on top of the person next to you. I've always found the staff friendly but my partner has met the owners outside so maybe we get an extra smile. That aside, I highly recommend this place. Oh, the take away is also always brilliant.
Note, I rate the ambience 5 cause I've never been there to eat. However, we get home delivery from these guys all the time. They are fast and friendly, and the food is always good. Have been left disappointed over the last 4 years with other local home delivery Thai places and East has never let us down. We use them almost weekly.
You’ll enjoy tasty, fresh Thai food here in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. But being the casual place that it is, I wouldn’t rush to eat here if I lived on the other side of town. However, if you live within walking distance (parking is a nightmare at The Spot), and you’re looking for a last minute dining venue, then this could be the place. You don’t need a booking, but that’s not to say that it’s empty or dreary.
We arrived at 7.15 pm on a Saturday night and easily got a table. There was a smattering of other diners, (just enough to give it a bit of atmosphere) and it did fill up later with the movie crowds. Our bill for four came to $80 and that included 2 starters, 4 mains and rice all round. Portions were very adequate. The three vegetarian dishes were delicious and my red beef curry also went down well. The spring rolls and fishcakes were amongst the nicest we’ve had lately.
Our waitress was pleasant and helpful and happy to oblige with a special order for one of our party who’s a particularly fussy eater. Food came out quickly too. I found the wooden benches a tad uncomfortable, although no tablecloths means you can mess as much as you like and there’s ample room to spread out.
And as a further inducement, if you live in the Randwick area you’ve probably received their special offer of one free meal for every two purchased, when dining in on a Mon or Tues night. There’s no deadline to the offer but we’re sure to avail ourselves of it fairly soon!
I have been to this restaurant dozens of times, and we always go back. The food is great value and the taste sensations will delight your taste buds. The special menu contains unique tastes like minced meat and thai flavours on betel leaves....must try....
You will not be dissapointed with this food and the value! Now that they have renovated, the decor is very warming.... Do your mouth, tummy, & wallet a favour and try it out.
